Hey all..

Got a 2002 P5 (67,000km on it). Noticed the other day that going over a bump that when my rear tires went over, it made a wet squishy sound. my struts can't be gone this soon can they? I did have the car loaded down for 5 days on a huge camping trip and had to drive over a hellish dirt road a few times, but I was going slow and didn't think that would be a problem.

Any thoughts? If I need to replace something, how much are they and what kind should I get?

Thanks
Dave

They're gas struts, they naturally just make that sound. If you're worried check for oil leaks (which would indicate they're blown), and there's a "bounce test" you can perform to determine if they're worn.

Check your wheel well. If there is oil splashed everywhere, you are out of luck

What is the bounce test?

Push down on a corner of the car repeatedly until you get a good up and down motion going on, then push down one last time and let go. If the car keeps bouncing then the struts are bad, if the car just stops bouncing then they are good.
