Hey guys,

I know its a well known fact the Mazda3's had an issue where people were kicking (and denting) the doors around the handle to unlock them and steal them. Is this still an issue? I tried searching but was unable to find it.

I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong but the issue has been resolved. The only issue you would have is people would dent your door trying to break in thinking that the lock would pop.

it covered the mazda3 sedans only, and has since been fixed. The doors have been reinforced in the area to protect the lock.

the 2008 MS3 is perfectly fine and not affected.

I think the Mazdaspeed 3 guys should get a vinyl (similar to those seen on aircraft) stating
"/////No Step/////"

Yes, but on early builds only. I was one of the first to get their Speed 3 in Canada and ended up getting mine fixed via a mazda 'goodwill' gesture. Later builds had already been corrected on the production line.
If you need to find out if your car is one of those affected, simply call mazda USA or Canada directly and open a ticket, they will then let you know.

The issue covers ALL 3's up to the early 2007 model year cars. Now that most cars have the 'fix' the issue isn't so much thieves getting in, they are still attempting to get in. Twice now I've awoken to find the 'dent' in my door and they were unable to gain entry. I have an 07 Speed3 and did not have the reinforcement plate and shock sensor from the factory, it was dealer installed at no charge after the first attempt. I'm not sure how bad the issue is in your area, however, it's rampant here and had I known prior to my purchase I probably would not of bought the car.

if someone wants in -
a rock or screwdriver through the window would be easier. (boom01)
