You may have read my door lock actuators post. Mazda is charging me atleast $700 for all four new door lock actuators inc. labor on my 00 Protege ES. That's rediculous. I heard aftermarket actuators are cheaper, but I CAN'T FIND THEM ANYWHERE! The actuators on the protege are not sold separately; they come in a latch assembly which is the actuator and lock itself. Where can I find aftermarket actuators for a good price?

And, are aftermarket products reliable compared to OEM? Anyone using aftermarket parts and happy w/ them?

idk abotu the aftermarket ones, but why dont you look into taking some off a wrecked protege and doing the work yourself?

Well, I checked w/ many junk yards around here and NONE have protege's. Uhm, I know people have put on aftermarket latch/actuators. And with some of a wrecked car, I run the risk of having problems, but, I was considering that, too, but no wrecked protege's in the area.

Hi, i tried those websites, but the thing is they sell only the actuator, not the whole latch assembly. The latch assembly is needed such the actuator and then latch assembly are one unit. :-(

They look like this: The latch and the actuator is one box.

Bought a stock one for my wifes car off a forum member witha wrecked P5 about a month ago. $25 bucks shipped. A friend helped me install it. works great. I'm really surprised no junkyards have em.

I tried to submit a request on that web site, but it wouldn't work. I might call them. Man, I wish I could find a member with a wrecked 00 Protege ES (not trying to cynical in anyway for the record). Did the person give you all 4 actuators?

Any other ideas, or places where I can purchase aftermarket actuators?
