Sorry, I couldn't resist.

So i got my Mazda3 back in April, and about a week ago, I noticed this noise like my trunk was rattling when I went over a bump. This morning i went nuts, cleaned out the trunk, and I've still got it. Research has unveiled the "clunk". I've got the 100,000 warranty and I'm probably going to go bug the dealer, but I'd like to be informed when I go ah, I've got the clunk (although the dealer will probably kick me out because I wanted Sirius *AND* my aux jack because they told me it had it). Should I not even bother and fix it myself?

It is most likely the passenger side rear stabilizer bar nut. I found it loose and so have a bunch of other forum members; seams it wasn't tightened enough from the factory.

Read that post to see a picture of the spot in question.

Hum... upon further thought... you might have just a regular Mazda 3...

I would still check the nut though...

It was the nut. Well at least that's what the dealer told me.

Just saw this thread and read through the longer thread about it since I've noticed the clunking as well. I just got back from checking mine out, and sure enough, I could back the nut off with my fingers! I tightened it and will be having my dealer check it out at my next oil change (which will be happening soon). This forum is awesome!

Same for me! Just left the below on the other thread.

1,300 miles on my MSP3. The rear clunk started today! Happened upon this post about 1/2 hour ago. Yep.... Passenger side anti-swaybar link bolt was loose. Tightened it up, used red loctite and clunk over bumps is GONE!

Thanks Guys!!!
