Buy a new turbo. Look around for a remanufactured one first. Always check it in person if you can. Check the shaft of the turbine for any lateral play it may have, as this is generally a sign it's on it's way out. Also, make sure the turbine wheel spins freely, and check for any corrosion on the turbine or housing.

What size turbo is it? If you aren't sure and the turbo isn't physically on the car currently, snap a few pictures of it and someone on here will be able to help you further.

Just buy a new one..T3/T4 are not too horribly expensive.
Check with Ken at www.protegegarage.com (http://www.protegegarage.com)
He sells them.

if its a single ball bearing or a thurst bearing a rebuild will be about 250-325ish. those are very common. id send it to a rebutable rebuilder and they wil evaluate it, usually free of charge incase its not a simple rebuild issue (incase you need impellers or something). even if u get a used one, you'd have to make sure its ok cause besides shaft play u cant make sure its ok on ur own unless u know what ur doin. thats just my advice.

Its ok. If it says garrett, you can use the t3/t4 repair kit.

What kind of damage it has? Does it boost? Make noises? Smokes while driving?

if he hasnt done it before, id really recommend getting it done professionally, hes not going to be able to balance it either. its about half the cost of a new one and it will be good as new.

Yep.

Inspec the turbo, if the shaft is bad (wheel damage). Buy a new one.

smokes while driving exactly

my guess would either be too much oil pressure for the turbo (if it did that since install)(might need a restrictor), or the turbo oil seals are bad. If it hasnt smoked since installation id get the seals redone.

yeah so when i start it it starts smoking a little then when i rev the engine it smokes more and smoke comes out of the muffler.

Well, I would make sure that the smoke is coming from the turbo. DO a compression check on the engine, make sure is not broken pistons.

it is i had to drive it home about an hour away from where i was and it didnt smoke or anything but the next day checked the oil and it was low so i added and then ever since i did that it seems theres smoke coming from the turbo. and the muffler. and theres no boost. he said it was seized when i bought it. i bought it from someone on the forum.

If the turbo can build boost, then its just the seals. If it doesnt build boost, then you need a new turbo.
