I was wondering how long do these cars last?
I know that they started in 2006 so I don't know how many of you have high miles... (Over 100k) on it. But I does anyone know how good the engine and tranny hold up?
I know each car is different but... maybe just an estimate or average would be nice.
****SORRY I MEANT FOR THE TITLE OF MY POST TO SAY MS6 (Mazdaspeed 6 not 3's)

Well I personally think that if you keep up on the maintenance of this vehicle, It could last you up to 90K miles before something goes amiss my child

hardly..but partially true. more like the MS3 & MS6 have the same engine..the CX-7 just shares little more than the block. correct me if i'm wrong
edit: and the motor doesn't really help to much when trying to determine how long the car as a whole will last, unless we are assuming the drivetrain/chassis will never wear out

its a car....if you take care of it it will last a long time...how the fuck do you really expect to know the lifespan of a car that wasnt produced until less than two years ago....

So, where exactly did you pull that figure out of? That seems like a very random guess you've made. I guess I'm just wondering if you have any evidence to back up that claim.
Mostly since I know there are a decent number of people who have already had their cars into the dealership for warranty work within the first 5-10k miles.

Well Peon...For your information. A friend of mine has a Volkwagen Jetta 1.8T. he currently has 80K miles on it, and that car has given him no misfortune. If a Mazdaspeed6 which has an increased build integrity can't last 90K miles, I will step down from my throne...

i dotn see if taken care of we get high milage liek older mazdas.
i see a ton of mazdas or now a bucnh were around 200,000 miles for cars from the early 90's are still runnig as daily drivers or beaters. Or guys buying 150,000 miles plus cars and doing light maintence and they are still running.
My ford escort (bg chassis mazda and bp mazdamotor. ran till 140,000 miles till it sucked up water and died). that was the only time since buying the car with 102,000 miles did it have a problem where it didnt run. New motor with 152,000 miles and feul pump actually was going around 157,000 miles.
So i dont see any reason why this car cant last a long time knowing alot fo older mazdas are still runngi high milage, and guys are still adding boost to a high milage motor and no touching the inside.

all three cars have the exact same ENGINE as originally posted. so does the mazda 6i and the mazda3..its the turbo and ECU(mostly ecu) that makes the difference as far as power and response go.

How long any car will last will be determined by how you drive it and maintain it. If your running it ragged racing it every weekend, there will be lots more wear. If you don't do oil changes on a regular basis, well you get the idea... for example, I have a good friend with a 95 5.0 mustang with a little over 250,000 miles on it... it still does low 14's in the quarter and runs great, but the interior looks like crap.

Well, I had a 1989 Ford Probe GT, which was basically a modified Mazda MX6 Turbo.
I didn't baby it by any means, but changed the oil every 3K and kept it in reasonably good repair.
I gave it away 6 months ago, with 244K miles on it, still on the orig engine, and still on the orig clutch.
Based on that experience, if I get 1/2 of that out of the MS6, I'll be happy. I'd like to get much more. (drinks)

Just remember, modified cars modified problems.
With regular oil changes I had a Pontiac Sunfire last 201K miles true story.

I have a cavalier at 220k. My buick riviera made it to 200k. My sundance was turbo'd at 50k and ran fine till 100k, put her back to stock and my sister drove it till 150k when it died of oil starvation, if that car got the oil changes on schedule it would have gone alot longer. Any car lasts as long as you take care of it. I had 3 shitty cars that were never predicted to be reliable make it past 150k. My ranger is at 130k and my P5 is sitting at 97k, both have had no issues, just regular maintenance. *knock on wood*
having the car in the shop during the first year for warranty work doesn't count, once the bugs are worked out you should be good to go.

I have not broken anything, however I might not be running it as hard as Mike.
I have, however, gone to the track at least 5 times, each time running somewhere between 3-7 runs. I have 17000 miles on the new turbo, currently at 34XXX miles and have had no warranty work done except for the clutch TSB. I do not go full throttle all the time since cops are very strict here, but I do have fun at least once every time I get into the car.

Oh it would have I'm sure, I should have mentioned the tranny blew on it and it didn't make sense for me to pay to have the tranny fixed. 7 years in the Pontiac was enough, the thing would sound like a bucket of bolts rolling over railroad tracks. I'm happy with my 6 but heed the advice gang, just get the oil changes.

tranny problems are usually associated with the driver. My mustangs pos stock tranny lasted the entire life of the car including all my drags with alot of power
