G'day group..

A little about myself. Based in Toronto, I've been driving a 240SX for the past five years, with a little bit of drifting, some spirited driving, and a lot of tinkering. My '91 240sx was pretty well done up on suspension (very hard coilovers, a lot of chassis bracing, etc.), as I prefer to drive well over driving fast. :) Unfortunately the car was wrecked a few weeks ago when a truck t-boned me and the insco decided to write it off.

"Crap, but I need a car." So I started doing research and decided that this time around I wanted something somewhat cheap, with potential for fixing up to keep me busy, but it had to be a four door. It was a tossup between the Protege, Protege5, Sentra and Lancer, but I found a good deal on a 2001 LX 2.0 that I just signed the papers for today. I pick up the car this weekend. :)

The car as it is is bone stock, power sunroof, 5-speed, power locks, steel wheels, green exterior with a tan interior and an OEM spoiler. I've been making a list of things I'd like to add to the car in the next few months, mostly creature comforts. I don't have the time or desire to do anything serious in terms of performance right now, but here is what I'd like:

- Upgrade to power windows
- Upgrade to power mirrors
- Fog light install
- Front lip
- An FSM
- Rear brake upgrade

I've poked around, and found the following stuff on what I want to do:

Windows & Mirrors
I was wondering if I could just swap in a set of front power doors (I only want power windows for the front, the rears can stay manual). However, this (http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108382&highlight=power+windows), thread tells me I can't, or if I do, it'll be hella difficult. For mirrors, nobody else has really looked into it that I can see, except for this (http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123640522&highlight=power+mirrors) thread.

Fog Lights
I found this (http://www.mazdastuff.com/product.cfm?ProductID=722) at the Mazdastuff (http://www.mazdastuff.com/) site. Is this the actual OEM equipment directly from Mazda? If I went scrap yard hunting, what would be involved? Other than the housings, lights, and harness, is it just a matter of hooking everything up? Would the Mazdastuff kit be a cheaper/faster alternative?

Lips
Everything I've found so far refers to the Protege5/MP3/MSP. Is there nothing for the the OEM LX front bumper?

FSM
Where can I get a Factory Service Manual? eBay? Mazda dealership? Will they sell to the general public? (I couldn't find one at a dealership for Nissan, but I did find one on eBay...).

Rear brakes
How difficult is it to swap disc brakes into the rear on the LX? Is it a matter of just ordering the proper parts from an ES setup?

Thanks for any help on this, and sorry if these are absolute newbie questions. I'm sure if I had an FSM I could answer a lot of these myself..!

Cheers.

windows: you would need to get the motor, wiring, door panel that all you should need for that (and all i know about.)

fog lights: that link is all you should need and then just wire it up.

lips: try this link and pm the guy and see if he has anymore. http://http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123667231

Awesome, thanks. The other link I posted just pointed to the difficulties in getting to the old harness, but it shouldn't be that bad. Do you know if the glass from the manual is compatible with the power windows?

Thanks!

It looks like the Canadian models might've had the power windows as an option I'm afraid. It was a trade off of $1000 between this car with 103k km on it. vs one with all power options and 160k km on it.. Since I drive so much I opted for the lower km vehicle. At least I've got a power sunroof though (always wanted one!).

Thanks for all the replies so far guys!
