Just bought a 2003.5 MSP Titanium grey as a daily driver. Always been a fan of the car and finally found the rite one and bought it.
Has injen intake, vibrant 3" exhaust, upgraded intercooler (not sure which brand yet), i/c hard piping, and motor mounts. Runs a solid 5psi, which im definetly looking to turn up but looking for suggestions and still searching for my best options on doing it safely. My only plans as of now is turbo timer, replacing the cat with a test pipe, and getting the boost up safely. I took a few pics but didnt upload them yet.

Any suggestions on what i should do with turning the boost up would be great.
thanks

welcome, be carefull with the boost, i don't know why ur boosting 5psi when the wastegate is set to 7psi tho, but people have blown motors on stock boost just so you know, enjoy ur new toy :-)

Welcome to the forum. People are great here, with much knowledge on the MSP. Your best bet is to first do a search for what you are looking for. If you can't find it there, ask away.

Im 99% sure i have a boost leak. Im going to fix that tonight or tommorow and see what happens after that. Once i take the cat out i will see how the car runs and feels then i will decide on the boost situation but at 5-6 psi its not enough.

You can never have enough boost, but ur motor can, mine is in the garage with a hole the size of my fist where a rod laid sideways at 12psi

see about that bigger midpipe and tuning will be your best friend with these cars. Look for a dsm/splitsecond afc unit. Good bang for your buck mod.

I got an safc2 i could put in the car, once i get everythinng squared away and am happy with the way the car sits it will definetly hit the dyno at some point and i will be able to do a few adjustments tune wise there.
I understand these cars arent made to be boosted hard and im not trying to just turn it up for the sake of more boost. I just know i could get a little more out of it safely and it feels like it needs a little more. The way the car feels at 5-6 psi with the leak im pretty sure 10psi would really wake this car up and thats all im really looking for.
thanks for the info and welcomes so far

Yea i know, by the end of the weekend it should be fixed, then next week i will get the cat out and the car should be running pretty strong.
Then after some time a boost controller and safc2 will be installed/ I dont even wanna install the safc for power more so just to make sure the tune on the car is good and safe.
Pics will be up shortly..

if thats the apexi unit your speaking of a few have tried and could not get it to work. Its been a couple years since the last effort. The specifics are a little foggy to me but I believe the stock ecu was booting/learning around the settings after while. Thats part of what makes the mpi and dsm afc's hot little commodities. Msp ecu FTL :<

I started searching a realized this myself. Im now looking to learn more about the dsm afc and will probably buy it eventually. Anyone have a picture of one?
I fixed the leak i knew i had and the cars running a lot better but definetly didnt look like 7psi and its still not 100% so im going to try and do a boost leak test on it tommorow and then if i dont find anything i may look into the w/g actuator since i read they go bad and i know mine hasnt been replaced.
Washed the car and was going to take pics but before i even got to dry the car it rained outta no where and got cloudy. Maybe tommorow i can get some good pics.

oh sorry, i thought you were talkin about dsm afc all along, yea the apexi ones don't line up right with our ecu's, i have the dsm afc it's awesome, you can see it at protgegarage.com, i have to switch to a standalone tho cause i'm shooting for big numbers in the near future

Got the cat out, sounds good runs a little stronger but still sitting at 6psi. I still havent done a boost leak test but i retighted and fixed some little issues so i "shouldnt" have any leaks and the car ran better after but i still wanna do the test for peace of mind. In the next week or two i should have a differant boost gauge and maybe a wideband in the car to replace the 0-35psi and cheap air/fuel light show gauge.
Forgot to mention in my original post that the car have eibach pro kit springs, awr motor mount set, and the stock wheels powdercoated black.

I figured a dealer at some point put it on the car, i already took the pinstripe off the wing but didnt get a chance to finish the car but its defiently coming off. A lot of little things just like this i still need to do cause i been so busy.
Still got to change the gauges, remove pinstriping, clean/detail the whole interior, fix/find a few rattles, change brake fluid, boost leak test, thats just a few things off top of my head i know if i walk out to the car i would remember a few more. The cars great and im really happy with it im just picky when it comes to these things so i jus gotta get it all done.
