Just like the tittle says. What is the point of spending 200-300 dollars? Does an aftermarket one actaully do anything differnt besides make a differnt noise than the stock one? Call me a turbo newb but i never understood the point of upgrading it...so edumacate me. (hear ya)

Coming from a spec v like yourself i want to know also, But i think it helps with holding boost.

the stock bov is plastic and made to handle stock boost.
any time you start pushing it and trying to increase boost, many times the stock plastic bov/bpv starts to leak and not hold boost as well.
most people get them for sound/looks. the only mechanical advantage is what i posted above.

so pretty much unless u raise the boost its a pointless mod when it comes to performance? I have a cpe intake and im ordering a cpe downpipe very soon. So my question is will a i/tbe cause the stock bov to leak? a i/tbe should not raise the stock boost levels it should just make them hit sooner in the rpm band right?

I think this poll speaks for itself:

in who's opinion ?
a VTA BOV can be tuned correctly.
Lets see you push 23lbs with the stock BPV/BOV without it leaking.
Unless tuned, i do agree a VTA BOV is a waste of money, but once ur car is tuned and especially running higher #'s, it needs to be upgraded.

So inconclusion unless ure running some kinda of piggyback/flash that increases boost and bpv/bov is pointless and a waste of money when it comes to performance? Im not trying to hate on the mod, i just wanna understand how it works.

yes. unless you plan on running higher boost, there really is no point to upgrading your bpv/bov.

yeah a VTA blow off is a waste.... agood bpv is not !
i notice much better throttle reponse and faster spool up with my forge.

why not go with a diverter like a Forge 007? (assuming they fit our cars)

So are you saying a VTA BOV would be better than recirc valve on a MAF car or just saying a VTA BOV is not a waste of money? If its the first, then I guess I don't quite understand how losing metered air to the atmosphere is a benefit other than to make a lot of sound.
