So I have a an 2002 Mazda Protege LX with 70,000 miles on it and it is 5 speed manual. I have put about $ 4,000 into it and that includes a sound system that costs about $2500, the MP3 spoiler, Mazdaspeed Miata rims with potenza performance tires, and some Mazdaspeed pedals. And I am off to college for the next 4 years and I see myself driving about 25,000 miles within those 4 years, so that would put my mileage up to around 100,000. I was just thinking that it might be better for me to sell my car now, becuase I think the car is probably much more desirable at 70,000 miles than at 100,000. The car is in overall excellent condition mechanically, and it has a few dings and scratches on the body but still good condition.
So I just wanted to get some input on wether you guys agree with me that now is a good time to sell my car, or if you dont think so, and also what price you think I'll be able to get my car sold for. I was thinking and hoping I could sell it for $ 9,500. Just let me know what you guys think.
Thanks,
Pat

Never going to get 9,500 for it honestly. You might as well just drive it and enjoy it.

Drive it till the wheels fall off. Then if you can put some more wheels on it and still drive it .Then drive it some more till those fall off.

it's prob real cheap transportaion while your at school...drive it till it falls apart! you'd be lucky to get 8K (NADA is around 7ish)

the stealership told me they'd give me 1k, but mine has over 173k miles on it...but even when it was about 3 years old, i was only offered about 5k for it. I'll never sell.

LOL trade in for my car (03 DX, not counting the MSP kit) right now would only be 3k I believe. I love it too much to sell though, I'll love it even more when I get boost :) And not having any car payments rock (headbang)

my ES had 58k on it, racing heart wheels, shitty custom exhaust and OBX headers

if you want to recoup more than $7k you should seriously consider removing the "$2500" in audio equipment and selling that separately

same with the wheels if you kept the stockers
