Will a CEL disappear if the condition has been fixed, instead of disconnecting the battery? Didn't know if all obdII cars are the same my neon's CEL would go out after driving for awhile.

My experience is that the code is still there. Even though the problem isn't. I had this issue when going for emissions. I had a CEL for misfires. Even after the misfires stopped and I checked with the computer (dealer). I failed the test (forgot to clear the code).

The code will remain in the computer, but the CEL will turn off if the current conditions indicate that everything is OK.
