i like to buy my tires online and pay them off before i need them and am just starting to look around. just wondering if anyone has any first hand experience running these 2 sizes on the 7" wheel? i like wider is better and will go with the 225/45 if i must.

No you need 8 inch rims for those sizes. Not first hand exp though.

you definitely need 8 inch for the 235 and prolly 8.5 for 245.

In a higher profile you could fit 235's on a 7" wheel, but I wouldn't want to do that with a 40-series. I would stick with 225's if you're going to put them on the stock wheels. I'd say you'd want at least 7.5 - 8" of wheel for a 235 or 245 in a 40-series profile.

You can 8" 240/245 it fits 7.5" you can put 235 no rubbing perfect fit and appearance after 7.5" it starts protruding and looks ugly.

in researching this a bit ive come across a thread with a guy running 235/40/18 on stock rims. they seem to have mounted up fine and look ok.
