ok well heres a page i'm setting up for the progress of the car over the next few months, so far i've gotten the MSP front bumper(protege5)
only parts left that i need before the repaint are:
1.Left front fender(here 10/25/05)
2.The paint (Paint will be here by late this week/early next)
heres a pic with the new bumper cover and new intake setup(i took the extension off basically) this is how the car is looking at the moment, its got all the black on it because i've had to repair a few things,
check back for updates over the next few months (thumb)
Parts i'll be collecting after the repaint include:
03.5 lip, sideskirts and rear lip
new rims/tires
differen't springs possibly coilovers(need a lower drop)
regular oem tailights(anyone wanna trade for my tinted taillights?)
I would also like to thank the members of this forum that have helped me out with getting the parts i
need(ed) for this project:

i don't want to split hairs, but that's a protege5 bumper. the msp doesn't have the holes in the sides for sidemarkers. otherwise, i can't wait to see everything come together.

10-08-2005, 11:05 PM
ur right it is a p5 bumper i got it because i wanted those sidemarkers, i just call msp because i'm getting the lip and making it look like an msp which is kinda easier to say lol

Youre painting it all black. That is going to look nice.....................when it is clean.......................for 15 minutes. Tough color to keep clean but looks sexy as hell. I would go with chrome wheels on a black car though because it would just be too much black but that is just my opinion. Peace, Santos

i'm going with bronze:D

i'm going with bronze:D
Didn't you just paint them from bronze to black and then you are going to paint them from black to bronze again? You just like to stay busy don't you? :)

10-10-2005, 12:45 PM
oh these rims are going, i'm getting 16's now but the bronze didn't look right before because of the color the car was but when its black it'll look str8

You should really paint it that green that you were originally talking about. That would be totally unique and nice......make it stand out a bit, and do something different.

i kno i'm so back and forth i have it narrowed down to 3 colors i want i just can't decide i'm going for looks but i need something practical as well(which sucks) black is the most practical because if anything is damaged which they tend to be in waukegan:rolleyes: its easy to fix but i do like the green tho i dunno we'll see

Go with the green dude.....be different. If you had that green and the gold rims it would be 'off da chain'!

Nice choice. Anything but black. I mean even though my car is black (and I love my car), if I were to have the funds to paint it I wouldn't do it in black.....something a bit different from other Protege's will look nice. Gonna look good once everything is done. Can't wait to see the final results.

Hey pro 1, you look like the person to ask about this. I am contemplating puting a P5 kit on my LX. What needs to be changed from my stock LX? I am being told that I will need new headlights, grill and possibly a new hood. Is this all true? and if so do they all bolt right up?
I personally thought the grill and hood are the same?
Also, how much is this body conversion running you if you don't mind me asking. I am trying to choose between simply buying a BC2 kit or going with a P5/MP3/speed, look

Nope, grille is different than those for the LX. Check my cardomain for the part listings for the entire MSP kit. I don't know what the number of the P5 kit is but I'm sure Ken or Dante can get it for ya.

Well, I took the time to post this cuz im bored. Here is a complete listing of every single piece you need, including fog lights and such for the conversion. Note the rear spoiler is the 2003.5 style, instead of the MP3 style.
BN7H-50-031 bumper
B30P-50-1T1A lower grille
BN7H-50-710A upper grille
B30P-56-130A right wheel well
B30P-56-140A left wheel well
BN7H-50-070A reinforcement bar
BN5V-51-680 fog lamp (need 2)
FB01-50-133 C clip
9CF6-00-520 bolt
9957-83-000 washer (need 2)
9YA0-10-607 bolt (need 4)
9YA1-10-607 bolt (need 2)
9994-00-803 bolt (need 3)
GD7A-50-EA1 plastic snap on fastener (need 2)
B30P-51-9K1B air dam
B30K-V4-910F side skirts
0000-8M-C16 rear bumper skirt
0000-8Y-C32 rear spoiler
Awesome. I really appreciate the input. But one thing, how much did this cost you?? I am on a budget here so if it is a lot more than what I could get a BC2 kit for then I probably won't do it.
The MP3 style rear wing is not even an option for me! I think it is horrible. I do however love the 2003.5 wing though. I currently have a Civic style spoiler (Lund makes it I believe) that I installed. I like the look I get from it. It's just big enough to notice but subtle enough to give it that clean look I'm going for.

sorry i haven't been on here in awhile well so far the front bumper was $205? if i remember correctly i know its $199 i got it from ken at protege garage, yes as steve said the grill is differen't so you could get a aftermarket grill like what i have or an oem piece which i'm sure ken can get you also
as far as the sideskirts go i'm not really sure yet i've just been looking thru forsale ads to find the best deal

ok an update:
this isn't set in stone buuuuut i may be leaving the car similar to how its painted now
the bottom of the car painted black all the way around as well as the fender where it flares over the wheel well also the roof section in between the rail sills and possibly the trunk
reason being.....some things have come up...Bills (deadhorse ....New Girl (k) (thumb) etc and i don't have all the money nor do i want to spend as much as it was going to take for the plans i had for the car so this will be a reasonbly cheap alternative to what i had planned, yet i think once its done it will still look good and be original, from the way i imagine it looking i think it'll be kool
i'll keep updating this page tho!
peace

Personally, I don't think you should cheap out by not painting the whole car. If it means it doesn't get done as soon as originally planned, then wait a bit. I think you've got a good idea going, so take your time. Patience young grasshopper, patience. In the end you'll thank yourself for not being a cheapskate.
As for color, I really like the bronze/copper color you have in your sig, or black. Black will help keep the car subtle too, as it hides bodylines, such as your rear lip. The orange is just sweet though.

^ yeah thats what i was thinking
i'll prob just end up doing that it just won't be painted as soon as originally planned either that or i was thinking have everthing black done in gold and have a shimmering sand mica mp3...never seen one of those

Since you have the P5 bumper with the side reflector cutout, you should do this:

I would love to see it on a Sand Mica, if I had gotten a P5 bumper I would've done it.
