i am having problems with my ss afc. after installation the car starts then immediately dies. i was on the phone with ss and we tried many different things so i sent it in to check if it was a faulty unit and they said nothing was wrong with it. all the connections were soldered and everything was wired right. do any of you guys have any suggestions.

Your MAF signal is not making it to the stock ECU, or you have a vac leak. I bet on the MAF signal though, symptoms are exactly as you describe. Unplug your MAF at the MAF itself, and start the car and see if it does it again. If it does, bingo bango MAF issue. Did you have your MAF out? Make sure it's not backwards.

Agree. Make sure the MAF is in the right direction. I've done that before car would stall as soon as it's started

Done it before too. Check and recheck all connections. If you have the serial cable, hook the AFC up to a laptop and turn on the ignition and make sure the R4 software is able to communicate with the AFC.

Car ran after you took out afc? Any check engine light? If the maf was open circuited, there would be a dtc as soon as the key is turned on.

DTC= diagnostic trouble code. The afc hangs out dormit until 1-2 psi of boost is achieved, then it lights off and takes over. It shouldn't affect starting, idle and anything in vacuum the way they come for our cars. The fact that it won't start/idle, makes me think that you have a wiring issue somewhere. Any idea what codes it had when the check engine light was on?

Not sure what your problem is then if you are sure everything is hooked up right. I'm sure when you sent it in for SS to look at it they must have tested it fully by hooking it up or something.
I guess the only other option is to try it in another car.

Try this,
simply turn on ignition and plug in laptop. Read afc program MAP A to make sure you have a map loaded. If not, cell values are 0 and you are basically turning off injection. You should reload the supermap.
Install of the AFC:
you need to splice into 3 wires: RPM, 12v+ and negative.
the 2 other wires, you need to cut and put the AFC in series with sensors and stock ecu.
Here is what i suggest....
on the O2 and MAF sensor wired you connected, simply make a jumper to just make the signals bypass the afc. If it doesn't die, check wiring directions to make sure you are okay and you did not reverse wire directions.
Took me 1.5h to install mine and turned on with first try and running great now!
Let me know how it goes.

im kind of having the same trouble but mine doesnt die all the time i have to gas it to keep it from stalling and checked my wiring like 100 times and its all right, but i will have to check out the my MAF and hopefully thats the problem but you guys are saying that the AFC does not work until you hit atleast 1psi of boost?? Let me know if you ever got it figured out.
