Anyone know how good the TurboSmart Kompact Dual Port Blow-Off Valve
is im thinking of doing that to aviod the dual setup.... My aim is around like 15+ psi would that hold up well?

replaced the stock bpv with a turbo xs type s. running open vent. I have no stalling issues and no turkey.
i also ran the hks super sequential and greddy type s but felt they were too big for my car. i'd always have a little turkey no matter how loose i set the valve. the turbo xs type s has been the best so far.

HKS SSQV on cold pipe, venting and no MAF. It isn't too bad still a little turkey though.
I am interested in trying something new, I'll probably try one with a recirculating fitting too.

BLITZ DD BOV on cold pipe, very little turkey....was going to go with a TIAL 50mm...but fell in love with the Synapse Engineering Synchronic BOV vent to atmosphere. You all should check it out!

Yeah I saw the synapse on another forum and was thinking about trying it as well. Do you have it? Any pics or sound clips of it on your MSP?

I'm running a Forge BOV. MAF in stock location with SRI. Valve is very loud IMO. I did not want to do a dual setup, too much crapola! If you do not want to do a dual valve set up, you just need to get a Dual Piston/Stage BOV. Forge makes one and so does Samco Sport. As long as you run the Dual Piston/Stage Valve, you will have no stalling or idle issues. The Forge Valve offers different springs for tuning purposes. This will allow you to tune your valve when you up the boost.(dance)

Greddy style type S. Yup, the generic one. It was included with the turbohoses hardpipes I bought from another member here on the forum and works fine so till I finish getting everything else I want for my car it stays. Oh and I am running the dual set up. I am still waiting to hear of somebody using the TiAL 50mm on a MSP because that is the one I'm interested in. But that Synapse Engineering Synchronic one is intriguing as well.

is there actually anything wrong with the turkey sound or is it just that some people don't like the sound. i actually like the sound but if it has bad performance drawbacks than i might have to get a BOV that doesn't make the gobble gobble sound

From what Ive read the sound is generated by compressor surge. Basically its air bouncing back on the turbine if I understand it correctly. Its debatable whether or not its bad for the turbo but I would assume its not the best for it.
I run a Greddy Type-S on the cold pipe. Open vent. Its pretty quiet which I don't really like but it does its job.

I ran three different ones.
Forge BPV - Not really any different than stock
Forge BOV - Pretty quiet, but otherwise worked well. No stalling issues.
TurboXS RFL BOV - Loud. Very loud. And took some adjustment and a little luck to fix the stalling issues. But despite the volume, it sounded sweet.

I've got a question... if you had a BOV recirculating, how is it different than a BPV?

At that point it would not be any different. Most BOV makers like HKS and Greddy offer adapters to make their BOV's into a Bypass Valve/recirc. Some can do both, it just depends on how you set them up.
If you go 100% vent to atmosphere, there are only a few that you can slap on without idle issues or tweeking.
The Samco and Forge are like 10-15 minute installs. Slap it on and vent away! (eekdance)

what is the benefit between the bov v.s. the bpv? any difference besides sound?

A BOV will vent 100% to atmosphere usually. The BPV just routes air back into the intake. BOV is louder, but the BPV makes sound too, not as loud. It all depends on what valve you want to run. There are single piston BOV like the greddy and the HKS that will usually have stalling issues on a stock MSP venting 100% Atmosphere, but both could be converted to a recirc with a fitting and then you loose the whooosh you could say and no stalling issues. There are dual piston BOV's like the Samco, Forge, and Turbosmart. These will work on the MSP with no stalling issues and you get the whoooosh. The dual piston inside the valve allows air to escape, but enough behind to keep from stalling. The Turbosmart compact valve is a recirc and vent that under boost will give a whoosh sound. I have seen a couple guys with those and was curious myself to try it. I got the Forge for a smokin deal, so I couldn't pass it up. Works great venting 100% to atmosphere and no stallin'
good luck!(drinks)
