My first post and hope I am posting in the right area.
I have a 99 Protégé with a PO401 code (EGR Flow Insufficient Detected) My first plan of attack was to remove the EGR and attempt a thorough cleaning. I removed the ECM (Electronic Control Module probably not necessary) from the EGR and cleaned out the carbon in the 2 ports. The spring loaded valve within the EGR appears to be stuck. I can’t seem to get any movement on the valve by pushing on the spring. Not sure, but it appears to be rusted stuck. I sprayed it with a carbon cleaner to clean the innards as much as possible but can’t seem to move the valve.
Anyone have any tips or assistance in releasing the valve so I can get it to move freely? My next plan is to try and force it but will attempt as a last resort.
thanks
After much work, I have finally freed the valve
