Im looking to get just everyday driving tires, something all season and decent tho i will not be racing in them.
i like falkens overall from race exerience but i was wondering if anyone was running all seasons? i'm debating the 912's as well...
I dont really want to pay over $400 for my all seasons since i will have to be buying a set of race wheels and tires.
so im just looking for something decent (within the $100-$120 range) that will get me by nicely in our unpredictable ohio weather.

I have a set in the MSP size. They are a good gripping, fairly quiet tire but they seem to be wearing rather quickly. I have a set of 15" wheels to be used in the winter- I just live in Colorado and it's not completely out-of-the-ordinary for snow to pop up in late May/early June after weeks of weather in the 80s, so I wanted some all-season capability. I rotated the tires after putting about 7k miles on them (about 4k of which was purely interstate) and the fronts were worn down nearly to the wear bars.

I haven't heard anything from anyone other than Falken about the 912s, but they are suppose to be better than the 512s.

Hey,

I have a set of Falken Ziex ZE512s on my car right now, and they were fantastic! They had great traction in all weather conditions and provided a smooth, comfortable ride.

On the bad side, they sure did wear out quickly. They last about 25-32k miles, depending on how you drive. I'm tempted to try the 912s next, but they have a stiffer sidewall than the 512s, so the ride may not be as comfy but they are supposed to last about 10k miles longer than the 512s. I'll have to think about it.

Well thats good to hear, im not obsessed with a quiet tire i just need one that's generally stable in wet dry and snow.
thanks, i might just give em a try....cause 20-25k miles is almost 2 years of driving for me so i wouldnt concider that wearing prematurely.

Okay, but keep this in mind: The car's recommended tire pressure is 32psi, but that's for the stock Bridgestone RE040 Potenza tires. The 512's have a softer sidewall rating than the Bridgestones (~92 (Bridge) v. 87 (512)), so if you get the 512s, tire pressure should be increased to 36-38 psi for best results.

i have the 512's and i have about 35k miles on them with spirited driving rotating them every 7k miles....and i'd say i have about 7-10k miles left on them before they are bald.

They are good tires for the price, better than the stock potenzas. I don't think they are too loud.

I run 35psi on the Ziex 512s and they run about 25k-30k for milage if you're nice to them. I used to run them on my MSP on stock rims, but since Auto-x season is upon us and I am lazy, I just run my auto-x rims with Azenis all the time. The 912s are also supposed to last up to 40k miles, which is nice.

Personally if I go back to all seasons, since the 512s are discontinued now, I think I may go with the Dunlop Sp Sport, or Yoko AVID H4S, just because they are supposed to last about twice as long. If you want a good price on tires check out vulcantire.com, they haven't let me down once for a great price and quick shipping.

yeah i just checked out vulcantire.com...i'm really impressed with their pricing, might go through there and get the Pirellis i wanted anyway since they are so much cheeper than anywhere around here.

I have the 912 and i love them.. much better handling than the stupid factory dunlops... smoother.. quieter.. and WAY better traction in wet.. and dry.. the 912 are the replacements to the 512's..
