Borrowed my brother’s car for the week because he just got it and i wanted to test it out. Left my car at his house, today when i went to pick it up it was fine, as soon as i got on the highway and shifted into 6th, my clutch pedal stayed down, leaving me unable to shift gears. As the car revved down the clutch popped back up but when i tried to shift gears again, i had to force the shifter into place HARD, it wouldnt go in!

I finally got off the highway, and now when i have to shift gears i have to us a lot of strength.

I stopped the car and just shifted in place, everything was fine, as soon as I accelerate it u have to really use force to shift.

I tried just inching the car up by just using the friction point and it didn’t move, i lost my friction point!

What’s wrong with my car!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!

Call the dealer ASAP and don't drive it any further. Yes it will be covered under warranty.

My dealership told me that the clutch is only covered one year 12k miles, but this seems like a defect, not an abused clutch, so there should be no problems. Good luck. :)

This exact same thing happened to me, it turned out the master cylinder failed, which in turn made the slave cylinder fail, which when the clutch got stuck down, shattered it, which shattered the flywheel. warranty covered it no questions asked, took about a week.

did they give you a new one?

Yup, whole new clutch, flywheel, master cylinder, etc. It drove even better than when I first got the car, which made me suspect it was a defect all along, just waiting to explode

so the car is at Mazda now, they said my clutch, flywheel... all fucked!
they told me that they needed to wait for "mazda canada" to inspect it and tell me whether or not it is covered by warranty. the dealership told me thier99% sure it will be, but if they find something id have to pay for the parts and the hours of work! im just nervous their gonna see my test pipe and other mods and blame it on modifications... i know bolt on's dont void warranties but my mazda dealership are real pricks sometimes.

But then again the car doesn’t even have 10,000 Km yet its gotta be a defect right?

10,000KM is really low km's to have all of that happen. I'm curious to see what caused the domino effect of your clutch and flywheel failing.

As for your test pipe, they could void your warranty since you removed a cat from the car. Mazda Canada will most likely scrutinize the car, so keep your fingers crossed!

The pipe is behind the motor so i doubt they can say shit about it. I would get your guys from the shop you said did your work to go with you if needed and have them argue for you since they will know what there talking about....

Don't worry about it, my car went through the same inspection, its standard with most warranty work. The test def. shouldn't affect it. Mine had 9k miles on it when it happened to me

im soo nervouse now!!!!,
but how could a test pipe contribute to the failing of a clutch...?
i was told that know bolt on will void warranty, is that just a mith?

i really hope its covered, i dont know what i would do if it wouldn't be(boom01)(wow)

how much would a new clutch flywheel.... usualy cost?

thanks guys

they would only be able to void warranty on parts that failed BECAUSE of the test pipe. i know thats the law in the US anyway...the test pipe could NOT have caused this issue.

Snooky chill man! The test pipe has nothing to do with your flywheel! Your gonna be fine. IF they try and say shit then get those guys from t he shop to go fight for u. If you go to mazda usa you can see the after market clutch and stuff so im guessing the stock ones will be cheaper then that.

I know the test pipe has absolutely nothing to do with the issue...but you know how dealerships can be sometimes.

Snooky, don't worry about it. They will most likely not notice it's there.

they did tell me thought that the tires are seriously worn down, i gotta stop racing...

thanks for the help guys!
