I have been reading a lot about the CAI vs. SRI debate and can't decide which is better, or if either one is worth the money you spend on it. I want your honest opinion on this. Are air intakes worth the money that you pay for them? If they aren't worth it, then what would be?

you can just get an ebay cold air intake and get yourself the AEM driflow filter to stick on the end. save yourself money. ive got the injen intake with the AEM filter and like it. cold air=good stuff for engine.

short ram is good too, would be better if you built a heat shield to ward off unwanted engine heat though.

Cheapest intake is just to mod the stock airbox and put in a k&n drop in filter.

If you live in a area where you get tons of puddles when or after it rains. I would suggest getting a SRI vs the CAI.

Heh, I live in Northern California. There is no such thing as rain. I would rather stick with name brands, rather than ebay stuff. Never know with that kind of quality... I am not looking for the cheapest thing, just the best "bang for your buck".

All the intake is a pipe with a few couplers and a filter man!

Ohh, I had to slow down and read that again, I gotcha. So has anyone had problems from the cheap places? Or it been ok?

All he said was that intakes are just pipes and it doesnt matter who makes them it just matters what kind of filter you got on the end.

So thats why some people say the best bang for the buck is an ebay CAI or SRI with an AEM dryflow filter placed on the end.

I haven't heard of anyone having problems with thier ebay intake. However most people don't use the ebay filter.

You may want to consider you area's Smog check/Emissions....You may want to stay CARB legal...If so, name brand is the way to go..

Ahhh yea, well california has pretty tight emission standards so I should spend the extra cash then.

I am looking at an AEM SRI vs a K&N CAI. Roughly the same price, so that is not an issue...
