My ride is burning oil only @ idle but only at idle..never under boost or driving. Checked compression on it and the results were 185 across.
Spark plugs were checked a couple of times and there wasnt any trace of oil on them. I do have a catch can on the pcv to mani and its clean.
I do have a bit of residue in the ic pipe on the cold side..but the catch can is in place so the only other place i can think of where its coming from is the turbo. I did remove the hot side pipe to the compressor outlet and just checked the rim and there was no sign of oil. Ill remove the pipe and look inside. the turbo has very little shaft play in it and it isnt making any wierd noises when spooling up.
Valve stem seals?....i ruled this out because it would be smoking during normal driving and most of all it would be smoking duriing decceleration.
Heres something else...
At idle if there is high vacuum pressure it will smoke..but if i decrease vacumm pressure (thru the throttle body idle adj screw) it wont smoke....wtf?
Like if the a/c is on which will make vacumm decrease.. it wont smoke.
Any thoughts on this?
