So I want to get a new exhaust for my 2002 protege. I just want my car to sound a little nicer. I am not looking for an obnoxious just loud exhaust, I just want something that will make my car sound a little sportier. And I don't think that I want to get a whole cat back system. I was looking at the Mazdaspeed sport exhaust, and I was wondering if anyone ever bought this and how it sounded? So any input would be great.
thanks,
pat

i got the mazdaspeed sport exhaust xD i really like how it sounds. when the engine is cold, u hear a little rumble. when the engine is hot, it sounds better. it doesnt sound ricey at all but it does get somewhat loud at 3k rpm. it really depends on ur driving. if u drive highway alot, people complain about the resonance @about 70 or higher? honestly, it doesnt really bother me, just turn ur music a lil louder hehe.btw if u get headers, i think it will be even louder. i'm happy wit mine xD

BUy a used MSP axle-back from someone here on the forum...it will give you a deeper growl, it will bolt right up, and it will be very affordable, cheaper than the new MAZDASPEED SPORT exhaust...which may only be for the P5??? I've got the axle-back from an MSP and it is modified for the wagon...I LOVE IT...sounds great, but is quiet when you want it to be...

If you're going Cat-back...Racing Beat or MagnaFlow are the most subdued in their volume, but still open up and growl at WOT...

i've got a mazda speed exhaust, with the 4 inch round tip,
at 3 k rpms it sounds nice, like a magnaflow, nice and deeeeep, growl!
after 4500 rpm or so the motor kicks in as far as noise.
it will bolt right up the only thing is that you might need to cut the old nuts off and a new gasket. trust me youll love it

the mazdaspeed axle back is actually available for both sedan and wagon trims
