that wasn't.
so i finally come up to the only blue msp we have here ( not imported in canada from what ive heard) from the rear, the guy put another wing, and bumpers all around. with the same mazdapssed badge in the back and another exaust.. then i noticed something.. that car's got a electric sunroof!! blasphemy!!! a false msp !!! (screwy) why put so much money on a prto to make it look like a msp ? why not go on another direction and make it look "unique" ?
i guess opinions are free.. (scratch)

the same reason that every dummy does conversions....they want their car to look like the one they should have bought...

I never got the whole conversion thing....you are right they should try to work with what they have to make it unique for its trim....instead they have to explain why their MSP doesnt have a turbo everytime someone sees their ride...

there are so many spoiler kits out there and wings and stuff to put on.. why try to make it look like it's a stock msp? with the money invested in that guys ride, it's be leaving it fully stock, no wings, just a nice set of wheels and put a forged engine and put a mat black painted FMIC.. just to make it a REAL sleeper.. oh and some suspension work too.. that way when you come up to a wrx or anything else, it looks harmless and the cops wont bug you..

soo what if you put all the body parts and don't badge it, like i would never do... all though i do have a msp turbo kit waiting to be installed

well if you put the motor in I say you should just make or combine the lettering from other badges to say "LX2MSP" and that could be the name of the car...or it could be "MPSLX" (mazda perdormance series LX)

the funny thing is that some will remove the wing on theiur msp's and some non msp owners will add it on.. i got ALOt here that put the wing on the prots..
anyways.. like i said in my first post, it s all about opinion.. what deceived me is the fact that i seen this car a few times and really thought it was a real one.. and the guy did a great job at it and really invested alot of money... but once you see the sunroof, it's over lol
edit: i hope he atleast has the turbo on their.. ya know, if your gonna put the MAZDASPEED badge.. atleast have something to back it up..
coze i couldn't see any FMIC in their.

also, most people on here would agree that the best look aero package for the 3rd gen proteges is the stock msp/mp3/p5 kits. so a lot of people, myself included, would say that is the best way to go if you are changing your exterior, but putting MSP badges on one is tacky in my opinion.

yeah i agree with you on the wing...i'll never change mine....maybe take it off one day to go a little more sleeperstyle, but it is the best look for a pro

ive heard of someone cutting a sunroof in their MSP after they bought it. had to cut through part of the frame, probably making it rather un-safe but hey, it happens i guess. perhaps there is hope for your little blue friend... listen to it and you can prolly tell.

^ +1. I met a guy with a titanium with an electric sunroof. MSP exhaust, full aero kit minus front splitter, MSP spoiler and boosted. Unless he also had the car painted to make it look like a MSP, it was the real deal with an aftermarket sunroof... I asked him about it, and he said the previous owner added the sunroof (along with, wait for it... leather seats) before he got it.

I got walked by a blown Mini. I pull up to him at the next light and he asks me how many pound. I was like, "seven pounds" He gave me this sympathetic look... I was like, "Dude, I've got seven pounds of boost, not cancer..." LOL.
Regarding the wannabe MSP, I figure if all the details are there; It has a turbo, Mazdaspeed on the doorsills, the instrument cluster, and the gearshift, AND has the MSP upholstery and completely color-coded mirrors, it's prolly the real deal.
If it's fake and he bought all that stuff for it, he's an idiot because for all that money,he could've just bought an MSP in the first place...

my msp has an aftermarket sunroof and I've had no problems...I don't think they had to cut anything crucial to put it in...it's still structurally sound...I could be wrong, but no problems yet... going on 4 years...
I don't plan on flipping it to find out though...

don't feel bad, my mom drives a supercharged mini. That shit is scary fast. It would walk a nicely modified MSP pretty easily, straight line or twisties. They are SO small and SO light, plus i think they put down something like 225hp to the wheels. + GREAT suspension.
as for the sunroof, i wouldn't worry about it either, unless you have a roll-over. god forbid, but that would suck.;

hmm i don't know... how about... the MAZDASPEED logo on the trunk maybe ?? oh and the colour is pretty much in the right ball game too..
anyone can put a body kit on a msp.. so he could have as well..
the only thin that gives it away is the trunk and the roof

unless he changed out the tail lights i would say no, because if i remeber correctly here in the states the msp tails have a pinkish tink to them over the return/reverse lights. i dont know if its different up there o and another thing he has an antenna the msp's dont they have one built into the window correct me if im wrong

its a regular pro...it has no MP3 badge on the back and unless the sunroof is aftermarket like said earlier the MP3 didnt come w/ one of those either...
2.0t03speed
07-06-2007, 08:21 PM
o and another thing while the mp3 may have the exposed antenna they did not have the side molding that are on the regular protege which look to be still on this protege. and i dont know anyone who would want ot put side moldings on there car lol so im ruling out the mp3 option as well

i just noticed another thing about that blue protege if u look real hard at the rims they look to be 4 lug and not 5 so that definetly rules out msp/mp3 case closed

07-06-2007, 08:40 PM
So ive made my point... because people were saying at the start of this thread that they didn't see the point in people doing a conversion and why wouldn't they want their car to be unique and shit. Find me a better looking and performing AT DX Protege and ill shut up.
Thanks for the comment though:)

you ever autox or track your car? im sure slicing a hole for a sunroof greatly reduced the structural rigidity of the car.

no to autox and no to track...
and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the msp the same frame as the LX/ES/DX with added features, engine, and suspension etc...if so... then what's the problem having a moonroof...the LX does...I don't drive my car like I stole it all the time or hard or into the ground
The only thing I've noticed with having a sunroof/moonroof is a nice view of the sky, some wind noise sometimes, and another window to wash...
I've driven in msps with(other than mine) and without one, and I'm no car guru by any means, but I didn't see a vast difference.

And replace the mirrors as well; the MSP's are completely blue, not two-tone like that. The front grill doesn' have that billet chicken-wire type stuff, and the trunk doesn't have all that chrome-ness... (aftermarket FTL). The tails DO have a pinkish overlay over the reverse lights.
That looks like an LX with Wings West's kit, like someone already pointed out. I do kinda dig that rear skirt, though... o.O

i have a ww kit and it would be sweet with out the flares on the bumper and side skirts too bad it was on the car when i bought it.... and i have no option to go back to stock lol... dont feel like wasting my money but i did get rid of a huge wing and gay rear flares. so two +'s i guess
