Hi All,
Just bought my CX9 last night and was trying to connect my LG VX9800 but could not. The prior dealer that I was trying to buy the vehicle from hooked up his LG (different model) and called me from it before. So I think hwen I say LG, the car is looking to hook up with that phone which was stored in memory.

I want to change it but not sure how.. I will be reading the book today, however if anyone can help with how to disconnect or removea prior phone that was connected and start over, it will be greatly appreciated.

Additionally, please advise which phones you have been able to hook up to your CX9 bluetooth.

thanks

I've gotten mine to pair up ok - but the CX-9 'forgets' the iPhone when the car gets turned off.

ex.
Pair the iPhone (works great) -

Does the CX remember the iPhone in the phone priority list? (yes).

Go through the verbal prompts to 'select' the iPhone from the list (it's number 1 in the priority list). (works swimmingly).

Make a call - take a call - through the steering wheel (works great - no pedestrians killed).

Get out of car and turn car off (yes, well... get on with it) -

Get back in the car and try to make a call (no link and no 'blue' bluetooth icon on the iPhone).

Verbally select the phone from the priority list (the CX sees the iPhone and turns the bluetooth icon on the iPhone blue - link is up and running and all is well).

So everything works as long as I don't turn off the car... this is gonna cost me a lot of gas.

Any thoughts?

My Samsung Blade (A900) paired and works just fine; however, it won't hang up with the steering wheel button. When I hold the button down for a long time (per OM), nothing happens, and I usually get "Listening" displayed. If I say cancel nothing happens either. I have to hang up by using the button on the phone.

Anyone have any ideas or solutions? Per the Mazda web site the A900 is fully compatible.

Thanks.

Hookep up my wife's Moto Razr today, no issues--sounds good. Then hooked up my no-frills Nokia. It works, but it has an echo, i.e. I can hear the speaker repeating what I say. I can also kinda hear an echo with my bluetooth headset, so the problem is the cheap phone.

So phone quality plays a role here. Guess you get what you pay for...

Some people might have problems with them because of the software and unlocks out there but they work great, even call waiting works great on them. My Motorola E815 works great and sounds great.

But has anyone ever had their audio system lock up after ending a call? It has happened to me three times now. It's like it's still in telephone mode (volume can only adjust up to 14), but no amount of button pushing will allow the radio to come back on. The only solution I have found is to "reboot" the car.

Yes! I had this problem one day. I thought I blew out the electronics on the audio system somehow. It seemed like it had hung-up the connection, but the audio system didn't realize the call had gone away.

I was driving along the highway and "rebooting" the car wasn't an option at the time. I think I ended up after about 20 minutes making another call (trying to diagnose the problem) when the system realized a new call was being made and started the call again. When I hung-up this time, the audio was back to normal.

Hmmm... I hadn't thought of making another call from the cell phone. I couldn't do anything through the car itself, but the phone may have worked. I'll try that, should it happen again.

For future reference, you can reboot while on the highway. Just be sure to shift into neutral first. :)

My iPhone 3G connected fairly easily and has worked pretty well. One time my wife's phone rang and it rang through the car, even though we hadn't paired it. Must be looking at some identifier that doesn't distinguish different units.

I succesfully paired a nokia e63 to my 09 cx9 gt w/o nav, but after a week when I got back in the car, the bluetooth system couldn't find the phone. now whenever I try and access the bluetooth menu it randomly exits out and goes back to the radio or whatever audio function I was on. I've tried pairing the e63 and a 2760, but no matter what I do the bluetooth keeps exiting out. If it does get to the pairing part, it just says "pairing" for about 10 seconds and then exits out, but it often doesn't even get this far.

I just went out to the car and tried making sure the audio system was off, no luck. I then tried the voice training and I couldn't even get through the first phrase before the system exited out. Sometimes as soon as I hit the talk button I just immediately hear the exit beep and I'm kicked out. this thing is terrible.

I may upgrade my phone soon, and I have some Qs on the procedure. I skimmed a few of the posts in here, and I think I first have to "unpair" my existing phone, then re-pair the new one. Is this correct?

Also, the new phone in question would be a Samsung Solstice - anyone paired this phone to their 9 successfully yet?

Thanks all.

It's fairly an easy process. My wife got a new cell phone (from a Nokia to a Motorola) and all I did was delete her Nokia and added the Motorola. The Samsung Solstice should be just as easy to pair with the CX9 and should pair without any problem since it has the latest Bluetooth software.

When making or receiving a call, the phone says "transferring to Mazda" but there is no connection between the car and the phone. I cannot hear anything unless I disconnect the connection with Mazda. Has anyone tried the new Verizon Palm Pre Plus?

I just signed for the CX-9 and will be picking tomorrow. We also just got the Palm Pre Plus. I noticed on Mazda's site, there are a couple exceptions listed with the Sprint Palm Pre (call waiting and receive contact do not work).

Not sure if it will be different with the Verizon Palm Pre Plus. Also, just upgraded to the new version of the OS, which added a bunch of features (video recording/editing, etc.), so not sure if that will affect bluetooth.

I just got back from the Mazda dealer and played with the bluetooth in the 2010 Sport. I have a Sprint Pre, and it paired just fine. The voice prompts are easy and it understood my deep voice.

But I couldnt figure out if the stock radio has A2DP audio streaming. I only had a few moments, and didnt go through enough menus to find out if it was possible. If anyone has any insight, please let me know. This may be enough of a reason to buy the 2010 (I have an '07 Sport that is nearing the end of its lease) or go elsewhere.

Wondering if any iPhone users hvae had recent issues with the the system reporting that the "Phone is not available". Since the upgrade of my 3GS to IOS 4.x and my wife's upgrade to the iPhone 4, we are experiencing more and more of this "not available" message from the system. Powering off/on the phone previously worked. Now it seems you need to shutoff/restart the car for the sync to happen.

I haven't tried re-syncing my 3GS, but my wife's new iPhone 4 (upgraded from a 3G) seems to have the same problem.

Ideas?

tsonneborn,
Check the settings of BT on your phones.
I believe your problem is on the phones.
Some BT settings (such as my old SE 600i) allow BT to dynamically connect to any BT devices
nearby (at least tries to). When it does that, it dropped the existing connection. Once that did not work,
it came back to re-establish previous connection. So, there was a setting to deactivate THAT (forgot the title of the option).
Once that is deactivated, all BT functions worked well for me.
So, check all the settings you have on your phone related to BT.
See if anything looks related to the problem you see.

Or, maybe check the phone maker to see if there has been any firmware update on BT for your phones.

Just bought a new leftover CX-9 (see sig (yippy)) and set up my Palm Treo 680 and my wife's Apple iPhone 4 with no issues other than the import of the phonebook from the iPhone. I notice that if the number displayed from an incoming call does not exactly match the number in the stored phonebook (i.e., xxxxxx-xxxx vs. xxx-xxx-xxxx) it will not display the name associated with that phone number. That's kind of important if it's someone you really don't want to talk to at that moment! ;) It seems there's no way to edit or remove entries from the imported phonebook. If there is, someone please let me know!

I cannot get the name associated with a number in the phonebook to display during incoming calls. This is true for either the imported phonebook or those entered via voice command. If I don't recognize the number, I have no idea who's calling. This seems pretty dumb. Does everyone have this issue or is there something I'm missing? I've read the manual and searched online, to no avail. Anyone?

Hi All,
Just bought my CX9 last night and was trying to connect my LG VX9800 but could not.

My advice is to go to the dealer again and ask to pair your phone with another CX9 on site to see if the same problem occurs.
If not, the BT unit in your CX9 needs to be replaced (likely since both phones can't maintain connections). If same problem,
then, well, unlikely, but could be both your phones have BT compatibility issue (upgrade firmware from T-Mobile or manufacturers).

Did you ever get this fixed? I have the exact same problem, called Mazda Handfree tech support, they said they have heard of this being a problem and that it's not supposed to work like that and to take it to the dealer (which I did and they had no idea how to figure it out). After trying different phones, resetting my iphone 4, turning on all BT sync settings on my phone etc. problem still exists. With no phone book imported it displays the correct number but when a phonebook is imported it will only show the first contact on the list regardless of who is calling. Seems minor but very frustrating on a $50k+ vehicle (in canada)

Purchased a 2012 Touring with the Bose package. IPhone IOS5 Bluetooth streaming works fine, but no song info in the display, which, according to the manual, it should show this info. Did a comparison with our friend's 2010 CX-9 which displays the song data, we also notice that the rear view camera shows reference lines on the display to assist in backing up. Our car doesn't have these lines, nor are they included in the manual as a feature.

This definitely indicates some sort of firmware delta between the 2010 and 2012 CX-9s for the information display.

Definitely not a problem with the IPhone since my phone displayed the song data in their car and their phone did not show the data in my car.

Spoke with the dealer about this. According to them, in mid 2011 after the Japan Tsunami, any new CX-9s did not have the rear view reference lines. I have a feeling that Mazda changed suppliers and the new suppliers did not implement (or partially implemented) the AVRCP 1.3 BT protocol.

Since our manual indicates that our car should support the BT song info on the display, I've raised the issue with Mazda Customer Care who is working with our dealer to identify the issue. I should also mention that the Service Mgr at our dealer is working with the company that maintains the Mazda audio units to figure out what's going on. I'm getting calls every few hours from both the Service Mgr and CC asking questions to help in their investigation, so Ii know their working on it.

I also contacted Mazda's NA Operations, Office of the President, about this issue and their are also aware of it.

My problem was the car display would not show the name of the caller, just the number. After playing with it and getting nowhere I took it at face value from the response I recieved from Mazda Handfree tech support that it's the way it works. Being able to see the phone is sufficient for the wife, so I won't lose any more sleep over it.

Also, we just paired our friend's macBook running OS10.7.2 with our 2012 CX-9 and all the song info showed up. Worked like a charm.

It's pretty confusing at this point - an IPhone running IOS5.0.1 worked just fine on a 2010 CX-9, with all the song info showing on the display.

On our 2012 CX-9, neither the IPhone, Windows Laptop, nor Android Phone showed any song info. The MacBook is the only device that worked.

Spoke with Mazda Customer Service this afternoon.

At first they explained that the display of song info feature will only work with NAV units. When I told them they were wrong, we actually tried this out at the dealer on a 21012 CX-9, they didn't have any sort of comeback.

Their next statement was absolutely ridiculous.

"The Owner's Manual contains a disclaimer, not all features may always work."

I then asked them if this applies to the engine: According to the manual, I purchased a 6 cylinder car. If it turns out to be only 4 cylinders, does this fall under the same disclaimer?

The manual contains no such disclaimer. The manual does state that not all cars come with all features (like heated seats). But it's clear on the BT capability.

I then followed this up with: How do you explain the part in the manual which states that song/track info WILL be displayed is the BT device is AVCRP 1.3 equipped?

They had no answer.

I've contacted a friend of mine who's an attorney. I'm probably going to file a lawsuit against them for false representation.

So in doing a little more research here, I don't believe it has anything to do with the IPhone nor the radio unit since:

1. A MACBook works fine in our 2012 showing the song info (shows that the radio/display is capable of showing the info if it is received from the BT module)

2. My IPhone works in a 2010 CX-9 and 2012 Honda (shows that the phone is OK).

I believe it is an issue with the Mazda Bluetooth module (made by Johnson Controls).

Our 2012 has a Bluetooth Unit Model TG1866 DHXA with a SW rev of 03.03.000. Out friend's 2010 CX-9 (the samecar) has a module (that works) Model TE6966 DHXA.

According to the dealer, our car should have a BT module TG1866 DHX (no A on the end).

The service supervisor at our dealer is going to try and order a TE6966 and try it out in our car. Unfortunately, Mazda controls these things pretty tightly, and doesn't like to provide them for warranty repairs to dealers without proof of a failure so he's going to try and get one directly from United Radio. If he can't order one, I'm going to take my car in and complain the the BT module keeps hanging up calls to try and get it replaced.

If all else fails, I may consider ordering a BT module myself from the Parts Dept.

blarnson
02-07-2012, 03:21 PM
I finally got Mazda to agree to install a 2010 CX-9 BT module in our 2012 to see if this isolates the issue to the BT module itself. Should happen within the next few days. I'll post the results.

Evidently, this has the attention of the Mazda NE Regional Manager - he's the one who initiated this experiment.

I found curious that the nav screen DOES NOT show the progress of the song in mins or secs. It always shows 0'00" on the top right corner. Below a picture from the screens while a song is been played

Just bought 2013 CX9. My salesman found that its USB does not connect to Android on Samsung Note 2.

However I had to boot my phone to "SAFE MODE" to get Mazda to automatically play songs from my Note2. If I do not run in SAFE MODE, I get the message "cannot playback bluetooth device while acquiring phone data". My Mazda dashboard would show that it is playing the songs I have on my Samsung Note 2, but no sound comes out from my Mazda stereo. My Note 2 will play music via earphone (not speakers) and there is no way to get my phone to play music via Note2 speaker again - I had to reboot my phone.

I stopped all my apps using "Advanced Task Killer". I may have to uninstall all my phone apps such as Talkatone, TextPlus, Skype, etc. Maybe one of these is trying to download data into my Mazda's contact list.

A second problem I am still struggling with – when my phone rings, and I answer it, my audio connection to my Samung note 2 stops working. I would get error message:

“cannot playback bluetooth device while acquiring phone data”
I had to reconnect Bluetooth without “phone” option; I have to select only “music” option in my Bluetooth setup EVERYTIME I CONNECT. So this is frustrating. Anyone solved this problem?

ps. When not in SAFE MODE, ie. in normal MODE, My phone on CX9 connects fine via Bluetooth to Samsung Note 2 running on 4.1.2 android and 4.3.

However, I am not able to get USB to work, nor am I am to get Pandora to work via Bluetooth.

here is some information on how I resolved my bluetooth problems:
Just bought 2013 CX9. My salesman found that its USB does not connect to Android on Samsung Note 2.

Hey Reggie,

It works very well, actually. The Driving Mode feature (http://winsupersite.com/windows-phone/windows-phone-8-update-3-driving-mode) is very useful. Here (http://forums.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-1520/253819-3.htm#post2316473) it is installed.
