Any updates Rob?
Just got back in from the dealer. I'm not sure what they did but they had my car for an hour. I picked it up and they said they ordered me a bolt that needed to be replaced for the mount. Also they said they would look at the mount at the same time when changing the bolt and if the mount shows any kind of wear and if so they would change that to a newer(and improved mount), but they don't know if I already have that mount untill they take it a part. So as of right now i just have to wait till the bolt comes in and go from there, so i'll keep this thread updated as things go.

I called my dealer and they said at 1pm yesterday they got the letter from Mazda and we are all getting letters for a recall. They said to wait about 2 weeks and call back because other then the letter thats all they have at this time. It will be about 2 weeks to get the parts they said and along with them will be instructions for the speed tech to follow according to the recall.
So its finally done and now we can put this shit to rest. Funny the service chick I talked to is the same one I spoke with 2 months ago about all this and she remebers the conversation. It was a sort of "I told you so" thing I was going for because they wouldnt do shit and played stupid to the matter back then.

I'm pretty sure it's the back mount. Most the claims are for the back mount while maybe 2 people have had issues with the side if i have it correct.

i go in friday at 11:30
i posted this yesterday, and it was posted by a delaer oand a member that got an email from mazda that a recall is out. the parts are suppose to be in today to thursday! supose to be a longer new bolt and lock washer.
some cars were fixed at port. but its every car from june 28 2006 - may 19 2007. so pretty much every speed3 build date!
Dear Mazda Dealer,
We regret to inform you that retail delivery of certain 2007 MAZDASPEED3 models in your inventory must immediately be suspended. Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a voluntary Safety Recall (# 4607F) to replace the No. 4 engine mount bolt on certain 2007 MAZDASPEED3 vehicles produced from June 28, 2006 through May 19, 2007.
On certain MAZDASPEED3 vehicles, the No. 4 engine mount tightening bolt may loosen if a sudden/rapid acceleration is repeatedly performed. If the vehicle is continuously driven under such condition, the No. 4 engine mount bolt may loosen and fall out or break, allowing the transmission to be out of position. In extreme cases, the driveshaft may become detached. If this occurs the vehicle will immediately lose power, come to a stop and be inoperable.
thats the info RonTonkin mazda got! and a few peeps have gotten emails already!

I know on Saturday we have a crazy meet planned at 10am at the best buy mall parking lot and then heading up north for a cruise through the mountains, but sunday is pretty open right now. You should go to the saturday cruise if you can. Should be about 25 cars that have signed up so far.

It's the side mount, the one that fails and lets the motor fall out of place while your driving. What I'm wondering is are people that have had the mount fail and had it fixed still going to have to have the recall done, or did they fix it right when it was replaced when it broke?

Just wait for the letter from Mazda. If I'm not mistaken thats how car company's notify owners when there's a recall on a vehicle.

Yeah - I was looking into those CAI's the MazdaSpeed is the best huh?
Also I was told by another MS3 owner to replace the rear motor mount, he put in one from *************** and said it made a big difference as far as the smoothness of the engine. It cost $115

Does anyone know if these mounts will be replaced on MazdaSPEED3's that are sitting in a dealer's inventory and haven't been sold yet? I am serioulsy going to be buying one of these cars this month (end of July'07) and don't want to have to take the car in on my own time.
I am guessing that this TSB (technical service bulletin) went out to all approved SPEED3 dealerships. Any insight? I will obviously be asking the dealership when I go to purchase at the end of the month. Thanks

This is not a TSB, it is a Voluntary recall which brings alot of liability issues with it. One being that the dealers MUST make these changes before any effected cars can be delivered from their inventories.
If they dont comply they are in a really bad spot.

Look under the hood and according to the directions there is a sticker that goes on the under side to indicate it has been updated with the new hardware.
I have an appt this Sat AM for both my friend and I to have ours updated. I called to be sure they had the stuff before I got the letter so I can beat the crowd and get this fixed ASAP.
Read the general topic thread there is a sticky that tells all about the directions and one step is this sticker under the hood and that all cars are to be updated at the port before making it to the dealer.

I went ahead and called my dealer and they weren't aware of anything at first. They took my vin and sure enough it came up with a recall on the mount, funny thing is they had the part in stock! Curious. Did they just get a shipment in of the revised parts or is it the same part. I will look into this once I get there. I have an appointment for next thurs.

That's the exact thing that happened to me. I asked him once if it indeed was the new mount and he said yes, though how sure they are....
I guess if my engine still falls out later I'll know (hmm)

Supposedly some of the mounts can be damaged (but don't fail) from the faulty bolt. If the mount is not damaged, then it's fine to leave in.

took mine in and the service manager was familiar with the prob. told him i wanted mount and bolt replaced. after inspection he informed me that the mounts are only to be replaced if the bolt was loose and mounts had any sign of wear. new 10 bolt placed and tightened to new, much higher torque.

you know... this would have been nice to know last week when i turned my ms3 in for a weird ticking sound under accel. the told me it was rust on the axels. and that they cleaned it up and it was all good... because about 2 am last night i was out in B.F.E. and i got the weirdest sound ever to come from my car while driving...... it was the sound of my motor falling out and my CV shaft ripping apart from the inner boot. i was doing about 65... with ditches on both sides... good thing i didn't loose control i guess. but ill have to wait till tomarrow and see what they have to say about that.. but then again mazda says they only pay for 14 days of a rental car... my motor crashed into my front end pretty bad... it might be there for a while

This has been a problem and I have read it on many other threads. Mazda has now officially issued a recall on the "number 4 motor mount" issue. One guy actually has his tranny "drop" and cause all kinds of trouble w/axles etc.
As Mazda says this happens when "only sudden/rapid acceleration is repeatedly performed” Hello , we bought MS3 didn't we..I for one accelerate hard all the time ;-)
