Hi all, I just picked up a real nice MSP yesterday. I am very pleased, it's the most fun car I have ever driven. This is my first front wheel drive and turbo car so bare with me please if my questions seem remedial. I am very familure with cars but my knowledge is limited to late model american or muscle cars.

I feel a hesitation or surge when the turbo kicks in all the way up the RPM range from about 4,000-6,500. Is this normal turbo lag that I'm feeling? Am I feeling the limited slip working? Or is this just the way MSP's feel. The hesitation/surge is not a bog, and the car still pulls hard, but it does not feel smooth through this RPM range.

My car is completely stock with 35,000 miles.

Any answers would be appreciated.

Thanks, Brian

yes that is normal. if you dont plan to mod the car go to the dealership and get the ecu reflashed. you do feel turbo lag in this car. its not a v8. believe me lol!!!

but check out protegegarage.com

i would recomend getting a split second AFC from them. it comes pre tuned and it will SMOOOOOTTTTTHHHHHHH EVERYTHING out.

if you still have more questions just shoot me a pm

If your going to mod don't get a reflash from the dealer, if your just doing bolt ons (intercooler, manifold, Turbo-back, CAI) just get a reflash.

I'm leaning toward the SplitSecond but, how much does a reflash cost? Thanks

The reflash at the dealership should be free, it was an update to the ECU basically it advances your timing to compensate for the rich fuel mixture.
