I've been consistantly 3rd or 4th in my class this entire season of Autocross, and really, im just not having it. and i was going to try and make it thru the season on the stock suspension....but i really dont forsee this happening anymore.
So, this is a request thread for anyone one who autoX's
what is your setup, or setups?
any pics of ride height would be much appriciated as well.
I dont like coilovers and im not worred about the 'everyday' driving feel. The tighter the better as far as im concerned.
THANKS(flash)

I recommend cross-posting this to the racing/motorsports forum (http://www.msprotege.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=51). If you don't like coilovers, your main options for stiffening your ride are to get Illuminas or a wet Koni swap from Jeff at TriPoint. There are a couple of threads on STX and FSP/SM/DSP setups that might also help you choose.

If you want a serious answer on how to speed up your times here you go.
How long have you been autocrossing? Because if you are kinda new at it or a veteran then you should really attend a autocross or performance driving class. Check your local SCCA boards for schools and what not.
Just to give you some insight. I went to an autocross school. got only 6 runs with my instructor. and dropped 4 seconds off my time from then on out.
And i'm actually about to attend another school again this year. to drop even more time.
But after that. you want to invest in tires.
Then you should get a stiffer rear sway bar this will help cure some of the understeer you have. I have the AWR 21.5mm with adjustable endlinks.
I have bf goodrich kdw 2's i run 44psi in the front and 36psi in the rear
But i'm running STX because i have a cold air intake.
I forget the womans name I think it is Brit but she set her MSP up for STX in autocross and from what I saw it's pretty f-ing cool

Brit is actually a guy. If your CAI required the coolant resevior to be moved then it's not STX legal. Just saying...

Ooopps my bad. I didn't know the sex of Brit. I apologize. Also I bought the car with the CAI so I didn't install it nor did I look into the installation to see if any pieces in the engine had to be moved.
But now i'm curious

STX is a really difficult class for the msp. Looks like you are running azenis- good tire. Make sure you have a good aggressive alignment; with stock setup your camber is fairly limited. Coilovers are the only option with stiff enough spring rates. All of the lowering springs are for pretty-ness. You will need to get shocks to match. It may help but work on your pax index and then buy a bmw :)

I moved my class from stock, to SS then SP. Now that I am in SP, which is the equivalent to STX, I wish I had stayed in Stock. I am having a hard time posting anything higher then a 5th place finish against 2 BMW's, a Z06, S2000, and a Eagle Talon maxed to the gills. I have now invested in a B-spec suspension from Japan (very pricy) so that I can do better. This is what happens when you start modding, you need to keep spending because everyone else does the same.
If you check with Brit (the guy) you will find that he has the RB sway bar and my AXR clunk fix bracket.
I am very sure that you can change the bushings on your sway bar and not take yourself out of stock class. You will be very happy with that setup change and if you keep yourself in stock class may take home a better than 4th place finish.

^^ as a minimum, get evolv's klunk fix bracket, it will nearly eliminate understeer.

You can change bushings on the front sway bar but not the rear for SCCA stock class.
