When I lock the doors it switches on the parking lights... sometimes. If it does and I blip it again, it goes off... sometimes. Then when I unlock it they come on again... sometimes. By "sometimes" I mean most of the time, but not always. It doesn't matter if I use the key or the remote. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

The problem is that they STAY on after the flash. Now that we've realised where the problem is we can watch out for it, but the first time we were caught out by a dead battery. The car and alarm are both stock.

I am guessing that there is a short somewhere, but where is the most likely place for that to be? Has anyone come across something similar before?

Dude, you are not the entire Mazdas247 forum. Thanks, I already know there's an electrical problem (check out the title of this thread), and I know that I could take it to the dealer and have them rack up a nice rip off bill (my dealer is famous for that). What I am looking for is someone with a little more experience who might be able to suggest a couple of ideas. If that's not you, there is no need for you to say anything else.

I think it's an ECU or alarm problem as it appears to have gone away after reseting the system. The most amazing thing is that I seem to have a better idea than a forum of Mazda enthusiasts...

i have a problem also. i no i have a bad battery and also connection.

The problem is ONLY when i crank up, i notice my radio settings r wiped out. which means something is being broken up. I can take the key out, and pu tit back in, and it will still be fine.

also the idle is gone to shit. (please dont gimme a bunch of EGR valve replies jus wondering if they relate)
