Valve-Job pricing??

So I was told I need a valve job on the P5.

Has anybody had this done or work for a shop that does this? I am trying to get an idea as to an appropriate price.

My guy has not given me the written estimate yet but he says it should be "under $1000."

what do you mean by "valve job"?

Are you talking about custom porting (example: 5 angle port job)

Are you talking about making sure that all of your valves/shims/lash are within spec?

New valve seals should be around $5-$600.

Nothing custom.

I was told (not all of the information yet) that the head needs to be remover, cleaned, boiled, machined and the valve clearances spec'd.

When this happened it was running normal (burning oil) and then there was a "chug-chug" and I got a CEL. It then started running really crappy/rough. I was told there is no compression on cylinder 3.

This would need more than just replacing the valve seals, correct?
