Regular H/U's fit fine, you just need something to fill the other DIN slot. the one pictured above is using the pocket that came in the MSP's. These look great, but are pretty pricey. For mine I used a pretty basic mounting kit with a pocket that was basically too small to use for anything, but didn't look too bad. If you order from Crutchfield, they send along the mounting kit for free!

nah the DEH-P390MP is the same as the MP3900. exactly the same face and features, just a new model year so they changed the name.
its a damn good radio from pioneer...and yea i like the blue light as well lol, although it can be aggravating at night (especially with my tint) so its very dark in my car.

here are some ideas. ive been through 4 different decks already but got better and better each time. unfortunately i was only able to find pics of only 3 of them.
for this set-up i used 2 single din units. tv on top and radio/cd player on the bottom. i used a ps2 mounted under the glove box to watch videos onto the screen.
http://a460.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/71/l_00b13a46d0d789cead90be264a04e713.jpg
this is actually my third unit i had in. it was a single din clarion touchscreen flip out and i used the mazspeed pocket to fill in the gap. its looked clean. Before the Clarion i had a panasonic flip out but since it wasnt touchscreen i traded it for the Clarion http://a966.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/69/l_3513764b7e5a9bf8cfb190abe677a785.jpg
and this is my latest head unit which ive had for 1 1/2 years. Eclipse AVN 5435, double din, touchscreen with the works. only problem was it was a bit smaller than the opening so i had a friend make me a housing using abs plastic from old radio pockets. he had to glue them together and use bondo to make it flushed and smooth.

Mr.Ames,
I am going to go with the iva-w200 as well. Do you have any pics from more of a side view? I was wondering if the deck itself sticks out a bit or not.

dont have a GPS deck as i have a pda that i can take with me when i get out, however my pda interfaces with my deck for voice guidance anyways.
i also have USb on my deck too :)

the unit i have does:
- AM/FM
- CD
- DVD
- GPS
- MP3
- sirius
- touchscreen
when i bought the in-dash, it ran me about $1400, but yet there were less double din units that had all those features for a low price over a year ago. now they start for about $1000 but still can go very expensive depending on what you get. some have hard drives for the GPS, the model i have uses a DVD and has a separate slot for regular CDs. Thats the only downfall for that unit, if you want to play a DVD you need to remove the GPS disc and you wont be able to use the GPS function, but for myself, i installed a DVD player in my glove box and i also hooked up my ipod video to it, and thats how i play music videos and movies. hope this helps.

no, it doesn't really stick out, i'll take some more pics tonight. i took the rubber thing off the anchor of the stock deck and made one for the alpine deck cuz it was bending the dash a little from hanging there. works good, doesnt skip over train tracks anymore either

What is the technically correct term for the MSP storage cubby in the pic above? I would like to use this exact one after installing my new aftermarket unit. A part # or other substitution options would be great.

I would check on ebay if I were you. If you read the thread i think they mentioned it was from the msp3. So search for that, or possibly someone parting out their msp3 and ask if they have it.
Other option would be to make one out of fiberglass.
Do you already have your new headunit? What model is it and where did you get it from?

I got this Clarion unit from Crutchfield.com. It comes with the harness & install kit and is on sale for 99.99 . It has a USB and AUX input on the front. I love loading up the thumbdrive and not having CD's all over the car anymore.

I realized this thread was old as shit, but since it was applicable, it was better than starting a new one. Anyways....
The unit is a used (in great shape) 1DIN Panasonic CQ-C8401U. Fiberglass is not an option. Ebay would be if i had some terms/suggestions to hunt and search with.

I like this install kit. A kit is a perfectly fine option except im having trouble finding them for this car, probably because you dont need one since its just 2 single DIN slots. Thanks for your help

Front usb, front aux, you can use the cd player to control the ipod, 7 band eq, basically the same as yours ismellrealbad except without the lcd screen
I got it because I liked the blue light, and the curves of the buttons match the m mazda symbol
Thats my ipod there and my GPS is above it by the vent.
Sry for crappy pictures, used my cell phone.

ismellrealbad if you can return your headunit, I can sell you my cd player for pretty cheap. I need money to pay my car insurance next month and i don't need the internal amp in this headunit, as I have an eclipse 4100 amp mounted in my trunk (rockon).
Comes with crutchfield's instructions on install, wiring harness for plug/play setup, the dash kit seen in the picture, cd player remote, and original packaging. I Can of course take better pictures if your interested, and go into more detail.
Also have a pair of 6822cf infinity reference speakers if your interested.

No thanks. I got my deck for free and its a really good unit. 5v f/r/sw preouts, 2 inputs, 25watts rms x4 60 max. i dont have a lot of cash so im trying to keep this install budgeted low. as it is i already had to spend $100 on a "dc-dc converter" cuz otherwise the internal amp wont work without it. thanks for the offer tho.
as for the cubby, i d/ld the parts manual and FSM i found on this forum. its BJ1H-66-9M0 $89 bucks (sucks). I really dont want to spend that, but i really like that cubby with the lid. (argh)

I'm looking at getting a radio here soon. I'm thinking about getting an Alpine and run the MSP pocket if i can find one cheap. I need to make a bracket though for the install kit to connect too. Someone tried to steal my stock radio (FTL-why would you still a stock HU?) but instead of stealing it he left my radio trim scratched up and used something to try and pry it out and now the brackets the radio uses to connect to the dash is demolished.

Difficult to see but the top DIN of the double DIN cavity is a center channel speaker for the 5.1 channel setup.

Oh man, my headunit's face detaches so....idk wtf it does, because take them 20 seconds longer to find the face and run.
But I think I live in a "good" neighborhood in jersey, small town, not many cars being broken into.
How did they get into your car? You leave the doors unlocked? Or did they break a window?

Do any of these have multi-disc changers? What is the benefit of them (obviously some hook up to iPod), but do they sound better with stock speakers? Just curious whats wrong with the stock one, cause I love the 6-disc mine has.

Well not all of us are happy with what we got.. lol if you look at my posts on here..
Anyways, alot of units can use a cd changer but you usually need to buy an adaptor. No fun. Several are USB enabled so not point for a cd changer. Yes they sound better on stock speakers as long as you haven't blown them already.
