View Full Version : Need advise on Mazdaspeed parts for Protege 2003
Hi everyone,
I will like to know if Mazdaspeed Protege parts can be used on Standard Protege Model Year 2003 (1.8 and 2.0 version).
I am looking to upgrade with Sport Exhaust from Protege5 (Part#00008MC10), Mazdaspeed Front and Rear Springs, and Sway Bars (Front and Back) - Part# BP7H34151A, BP7H28011, BP7H34011A AND BN7H34151.
Will the performance be affected for exhaust part as it is meant for turbo engine?
Thank you for all of your inputs!
:)

All parts listed will work.
Using the Protege5 exhaust will cause the muffler tip to either stick too far out or be too short (can't remember which)- assuming you have a sedan and not a P5. Alot of people say this exhaust drones at highway speeds. The Racing Beat exhaust seems to be the hands-down favorite. I have it and like it. Do a search on "exhaust" and you'll find countless threads covering the subject.
The springs will work just fine. They will lower the back a little more on a P5 than on a sedan.
The sway bars will work but you'll also need the Mazdaspeed horseshoe clamps and bushings (or an AXR Clunk Fix kit) to mount the rear. Changing the front bar requires more work than most people are willing to exert. I changed my rear bar to the Mazdaspeed bar and left the front one alone- handles great.

You're better off getting the Mazdaspeed Swaybar Kit.
It comes with a new rear crossmember with reinforced bushing mounts, and you'll also need to pickup some longer endlinks from a Mazdaspeed to complete the kit.
Thank you for all your useful response
So do you think these are good deals?
I plan to get these parts on Ebay from this seller so the total will be like $400 including shipping while on other online stores are selling just the spring kit + sway bar alone for more than this price. My Protege is sedan 1.8GT

If you have a P5 you need to get a P5 exhaust, if you have a sedan you need the sedan exhaust. The axle-back portion of the P5 is about 4 inches shorter than that of the sedan. Oh, and just to be on the safe side of things... that axle-back in the link appears to be for the sedan and not the P5.
And as a side note... stay away from ebay, you are much better off purchasing items from memebers here, just check the for sale section:) Those items in the links above are good deals tho and you could go with them as long as you trust the seller.

I'm pretty sure that link has the exhaust for a P5
