Cabin Air Filter

Where is the Cabin Air Filter located on the MP5?

My A/C smells a little bit like skunk so I'm gonna change the filter to see if that solves the problem...

If its a rotten egg type smell it could be that your catalytic converter is going out.

Try using better grade fuel, and do a complete tune up.

Thats not what he is talking about. If you leave you AC unused for too long it gets a weird smell to it when u use it next.

Ha.. it doesn't. Lots of cars circa 2002 didn't have cabin filters. That's a relatively new phenomenon...

None the less, un used AC smells bad after not being used for a while.

It will get better over time if you keep using it.

If you use your a/c and then turn your car off, the vapor from the cold water gets left in your system and grows mildew. there are ac freshener products out therre that will kill the mildew, and make your ac fresh. The noe from the Honda dealership..i forget the name is supposed to be the best. If you turn off the acabout 2 minutes before shutting the car off, and run the heat, this will keep water vapor from getting trapped in your system.

JDM models came with a cabin filter. DOing the swap to their airbox ain't easy...

True, but one could suffer a heat stroke doing that in LA in the summer. As a less extreme measure change the air flow from recirculate to vent, turn the fan up, roll down the windows, and turn the AC off. If it's hot enough to be running the AC that will probably dry it out pretty well, and you won't be any hotter than you would have been in a non-AC car.

Sometimes stinky AC can be cured by driving around for a while with the heat and fan turned all the way up. Best done when driving in the cool of the night on the highway with all the windows open.

ya i can vouch that there is no filter, i park under a tree and when i turn on the fan, shit flies out sometimes...

and u know what else is sad? i dont even have a/c and its been 30 degrees the past couple of days :' (

They list them in Australia as having a Cabin filter as ryco's website catalougue
