selling it already? I will never understand this... people buying brand new cars and selling them within a year. You are losing soooo much money, unless it is impossible for you to keep the car, this is not a smart idea...

Keep your ride man you are going to get choked on the deal if you cant find someone to take over payments.
PS my buddy went in to see what trade value was on the MS3 for an EVO after only having the MS3 for 2 months and they offered 17k, lol.
They said it wasnt even in blue book yet so they could only offer what Mazda offered them as a trade value.

haha, that sucks. honestly though, if its a reliable car, it should be albe to withstand a beating. and i think most people have that rubbing noise, i know i do. and its not my fault. and everyone that has a mazdaspeed drives their car. if they didn't, why would they have it? not saying that its easy to buy a used sports car, but its not like his car isn't under warranty.
for the record though: i've always said that i wouldn't buy a used sports car...

240's are pretty bad ass, but they arent reliable if you dont keep up maintenance and its your one and only car. I should know, i had 2 of them, alot of them arent in any great shape either, plus you have to pay "drift tax" haha, plus i wouldnt recommend this car as your 1st rear wheel drive vehicle, RWD is pretty tricky, esp. if youre gonna be mashing around in them visit n.i.c.o.c.l.u.b.c.o.m and do some research 1st(i dont recommened asking until you search, THEY'RE AWESOME AT FLAMING!)
If you're up for a huge amount of maintenance, and have the money for it GREAT! THEN DO IT! if not, stick with the MS3

Nutari, you did the right thing. You added honesty to this attempt to unload a car. Good job. It's nice to see this, and I believe what you typed was purely out of concern for forum members who may not otherwise think to look into past posts. A good lesson came from this thread. Always go back and view previous posts as the first step in looking into the purchase of a car on this forum. :)

You guys in all honesty what you are seeing here is a real life history of a used car and it isnt all that bad. When you buy a used car you dont get to read every time the guy raced it or if he grinded on a shift or 2 but it just so happens that in this situation we did.
I sold a supercharged tacoma and do you honestly think that I verbalized every time I raced that thing from 4wd launches across intersections? It still was a great truck and sold with 25k left on the extended warranty and further more used means used and that is the gamble you take.
I really dont think there is anything wrong with this guys car its just that you are seeing what a used cars history is first hand. Not that the history is anything close to bad and I still think if there are people willing to buy used it could be a deal but personally I woudlnt buy used. Why take over payments when you can buy new for the same amount of payments?
My buddy and I bought 2 MS3's the same night and he traded his regular 3 in to the dealer while it was in a body shop getting 11k worth of damages worked on. His car got nailed hard on the entire side and fucked the alignement up, door pillars, ect. I know the parts used to fix it were used and not OEM because now the body shop guy is under investigation. Now 1 week later after he go it back and dropped it off they had it in front of the dealership for sale. Imagine the poor fucker that gets that used car?
Shit happens to cars and putting some blue lights in the vents and a few hard runs in the car aint shit compared to what you coul be buying.
With that said the lucky fucker who gets my car will have bought a used MS3 owned by someone OCD enough to wax monthly, runs synthetics, and donest hardly ever run the car hard. I still havent really jumped on mine and I probably wont.

I don't buy used cars because I don't wish to get stuck with someone else's problems. On the other hand, since I really baby my cars - I'm sure a lot of the auto enthusiasts here do the same - I bet there are great deals out there to be had. It's just that I'd rather pay the premium to avoid the unfortunate circumstances. ^_^

I had a 94 and junked it because the money to hook it up equaled a new car payment every month. A clean 240 with none of the usual rot, sr20, proper maint, and a few upgrades is easily 10k. Then your still driving a 15yr old nissan with ratty paint shitty seats aged styling and a beat to shit jdm engine. In your favor any money you put on your MS3 and your payments should make some equity in your car. If some one takes over payments it should work in their favor for lowering the price.

Sorry man that 240sx is uggly as shit unless you rice it out like the previous pic then it can look cool. I suppose it would take a lot of money to make a nice one since they are more then 10yrs old.

Just keep the car and buy a rolling chassis to build up. I'm up to like 5 cars now because I never get rid of em. That 240 is never going to be dependable enough to drive consistently like your MS3 is. You need a reliable daily driver before you can build a car up.

im considering doin something like that..doing some more research i found that i would need to upgrade the chassis to handle more power since it is old and i wouldnt have a car for a few weeks if i did that..dealing with harnesses and dropping the engine in..maybe a 240sx should remain a project car for me..i work and go to school so yea i pretty much need something reliable...

*Edit* I'm not quite getting the whole get rid of the MS3 payment but purchase a 240, do an SR20 swap etc. Correct me if I'm wrong but how do you plan on saving money taking that route? They require LOTS of maintenance as a few already mentioned. A buddy of mine just sold his to purchase a new 350z and his 240 was literally a show car. He would only take it out for a nice sunny Sunday drive and it still broke allot not to mention they rust fairly easy. Just my .02 cents...

Well, I definitely understand you not wanting a car that gives you problems. Everytime something is wrong with my car I want to do an insurance job on it but I won't.
If your car is still having problems just make sure mazda fix's everything until your happy. Don't sell the ms3. That's my opinion.
The car can be fast as fuck, just needs mazda to fix all the little bullshit.
And before my MSP, I had a FWD 99 or 98 Altima I don't recall what year, I'm drinking at 3:00pm lol. I was going to do the BluEBIRD FWD sr20 swap. In the end, I probably would of spent alot more money on the altima than the MSP. Modding included.

man I know exactly where your coming from. I've always loved the 240sx and boy I have plans on hooking one up. Realistically unless you have plenty of money laying around and another car to drive daily, it will be HELL for you. Engine, parts, car, maintaince, upgrades, etc..etc. Once you realize the amount of time and money you have to put into it, its not worth it....unless u have the money. OR you can buy one already hooked up. As for me, I'm still going to hook up a 240 in the future or once I have more then enough money flat out and buy a used R34 Skyline. (glare)

i can afford this and i am not offended, yes my reason would be because i like the car...its jsut something that started lingering in the back of my head recently.."ive always wanted one" but like i said earlier..ill put it aside as a "project car" because i still do like my speed3 alot (thats y i bought it) and i need a reliable car for school and work

Alright I'd like to see you try to drift a FWD car. You can't drift anything. Lol, so are you getting it for aesthetic value or what? I haven't seen a fast 240 in quite some time now save the one kid who dropped an LS1 in his.
I'm sorry if I'm offending you, but I still haven't caught the reasoning behind wanting one besides the fact that you like them? And that's reason enough.... I guess. BUT YOU HAVE A SPEED :(
well not on cement..ive drifted my older fwd cars on the dirt roads (rockon)

That's the spirit. This train of thought gives you a lot more time too. You can plan what your ultimate goal is for the car ahead of time and look for a car as close to that goal as possible, then work on it from there. An older car will have lots of problems, especially if it's modded by a shadetree mechanic. The last few years they made them they were gorgeous cars, and I'm definately a fan of RWD. I just don't think they should be anything more than toys. Thats the responsible way to look at it. (Responsible in the sense that your real priorities require you to be able to make it to work/school/swedish massage parlor, ect)
If you like the car then get the car! Don't let other people try to talk you down from it. If it will make you happy then go for it! I had a friend with a stock 240 and it ran great until he wraped it around a tree.

Well, perhaps he realizes a quick and easy sale on this forum is now out of the question, so he's had time to think it over.
I'd definitely keep the Speed 3 for now, and not make any rash decisions. When we get these impulsive ideas in our head, many times it ends up being the wrong decision. I'd keep your Speed 3 up to the warranty, then look into something new. If you keep it in good shape cosmetically, this is a car that will still have a nice value and demand used. There's no rush, so just take your time, and have little doubt on your next car decision. Good luck. :)
