brake question

when installing my brakes i noticed that the front padds were too tight in the slots..so i used a dremel to ease the thing that goes into the slot off a bit.. now there kinda snug, a bit loose even.. is this ok? i nevr had a car which needed this done before..

The reason that they were probably very tight is because under the caliper slides(metal where the tip of the pads go) rust builds up after a while. And because the rust takes up that space when you put the pad in its very tight. What you did was prob not a good idea, but if its a little snug or loose like you say and you feel no driveability issues i say you should be fine.
