As the title states, ProtegeGarage is raffling off a brand new turbo kit for your Protege. By brand new I mean brand spanking new. This kit is a brand new, never installed, never boosted Mazdaspeed Protege turbo kit. It will come with the following components;

oil filter
all exhaust and oil gaskets
bypass valve
upper and lower radiator hoses
vacuum and oil lines
t25r turbocharger assembly
calloway manifold
mazdaspeed heat shield for the manifold
downpipe from turbocharger
factory charge pipes and clamps, including duct for airbox
exhaust manifold bolts and studs
water and oil feeds for the turbocharger

winner would need to supply an intercooler setup and fuel management. this could be accomplished by using a stock SMIC/radiator combo and mazdaspeed ECU for example. i will get pictures up of the goodies tonight.

parts from this kit for another? i'd rather not mix and match on this kit honestly seeing as its a pretty complete setup with a few exceptions. there is not much i could do with the parts on thier own.

tell you what though - i will give sizable discounts to the winner on parts to complete the system such as an intercooler and EMS.

MSP has a different AC condeser...People need to take a note that this will not just drop into another car without a bit of work...there are a couple differences between the regular P5 and the MSP....nothing major, but a few things.

It will not fit, The MSP Intercooler takes up room that would normally be the radiatior. The condensor sits before the Radiator, it is smaller because the Radiator on the MSP is Smaller.

In my case that's look for a tsudo stainless steel 4:1 header, real cheap in the f/s section. Brand new because i haven't even installed it yet! I bought the car at 95000KM and it's covered to 100000, i am only at 96500 so i figure i can wait a few thousand clicks and see if all is normal before i give stealerships any reason not to honor a claim because there really isn't that much power to look forward to from a header in the first place at least not compared to a small snail.

As for the turbo kit, i don't think i'd be able to wait that long with it sitting on my shelf...

I know the answer is somewhere but to pass the time, if one were to source a msp ecu what kind of wiring is left to do? does it just clip right into the original wiring harness?

Instead of this is there another piggyback fuel management solution that would be reliable and affordable?

I doubt the ecu would be universal cause doesnt it control boost levels to a degree? that kind of wiring wouldnt be included in the regular ecu would it?

and you could go several ways with a piggyback setup, best way would be to get the unichip plug-n-play setup, but that cost a bit of money right there...you could get an MPI, but the install on that isnt as easy as the unichip...or your could get the GReddy e-manage setup, also pricy, and you have to tune it yourself or have a shop tune it (rather than the already tuned unichip)

any way you go I am pretty sure you will still need the MSP ecu to hook into though

Yeah, whoever wins this will need to do a large amount of RESEARCH, prior to installing this into a regular N/A protege...If you don't research, you will miss some of the small differences and details...It's not a completely "plug and play" turbo...no turbo kit is that simple.

The forum has crap loads of information, and I don't think a turbo install tutorial should be discussed in this thread...Use the hundreds of other turbo install threads for that line of discussion..
