Seriously need the opinion of the Mazda commnunity. I was in 1st and accelerating when I heard a "POP." Now my MSP wont move. I can put the shifter in the each gear(with engine running), but when I let out the clutch, she won't budge. Seems to me everything is else is fine but it just wont go. Any help is THOUROUGHLY APPRECIATED! THX.

It has 66k miles and only an APEX DP for mod. My actuator is bad(was gonna replacing that next week). I don't think it's the clutch cause I can go thru the gears while the engine is running.

dude its the LSD...Id bet my life on it..my car did the same thing...I was in first leaving a 7-11 and POP - SMALL GRIND - SILENCE...The car would go into any gear but you could let the clutch all the way out and it wouldnt stall. It wouldnt move when you hit the gas or anything, but like i said it wouldnt stall out either.
Definately LSD...get ready to spend $600+

Make sure to get the new one welded! Search "blown lsd" and "welded lsd"

LSD. For sure.
Get a welded one to replace it so it never happens again.

Let's not jump to conclusions. My tranny popped due to a motor mount failure (the casing actually broke) and for all intents and purposes it seemed like either the clutch or LSD. You won't know until you get under there.

yeah but he said his clutch still engages the gears. He's got the symptoms of the notorious blown LSD...I am sure when he updates the thread on the condition he'll be in the process of calling up PGarage

It's gotta happen some time. I'll be one of the next ones.

somewhat off-topic, but ...
can we proactively weld the lsd before something happens? is that a pricey procedure?

yes you can...you have to take apart the tranny and remove the LSD and weld it...
