Since this technically doesn't count as racing, I thought I would post this.
He drove my last MS3 fast too...I won't do it. (Can you imagine getting pulled over going at that speed?) He wanted to beat his last speed of 146. He did.
My neighbor, who is a DC cop has always liked my car. After my first MS3 was stolen, I got a new one. He asked if he could drive it (again), so I said sure. We went out on a clear stretch of road (same area) that is straight and pretty level for about 5 miles. He took off. He is yelling like a crazy man (having a good time) and he is bouncing off the rev limiter in 5th when I yell at him to shift!! He pulls 6th and I start calling the numbers off starting at 140. At 150...it was still pulling, but we ran out of room....
The fastest I have ever been in a car...ever...and it was smooth and stable.

Yes they are.... He deals with the worst of DC all the time. Murders, rapists, assaults, etc., He has also attended multiple police driving schools and knows how to handle a car with the best of them. I trust his skills. The kid is good. (He is only 26.)

This takes "drive it like you stole it" to a whole new level.

thats awesome, but what i would want is for him to ride along with me while I drove that fast, just in case i get pulled over, never hurts to have a cop in the car with you

I thought about that too. However, I would only do that if we were in DC. Since I live in Howard County, they may not let me off just because I was riding with a DC cop.

Wait a minute so your first MS3 was stollen now you let your new one be driven 150 mph. Man you are just asking for another disaster arent you?
Be nice to the poor car it hasnt done anything to you. I can just see you going to your insurance again and saying the car they just paid for is now totaled.

ha good point, and finding a spot in DC to go 150mph? that could be a little tough.....

I don't think driving it 150 is being mean to the car. (The car is designed to handle it.) Besides, if we did wreck, we would both be dead, so I think my problems would be over at that point.
I appreciate the sentiment though whitey. I just see them (the theft and this) as two very different events.

LOL, just becareful man that would be shitty to have anything happen to the CAR again. Just kidding, yeah wrecking at that speed wouldnt be all too fun.

you should race his cop car and record it..then black out his face and plate with id numbers

Man it sucks being responsible now because all this just sounds stupid and dangerous to tell you the truth. I keep telling my wife that I remember having a fast car as being more fun but now I just putt along and every now and then get on it where its safe like on ramps ect.
On another note I would feel better in an EVO with built in roll cage doing something like this but not on our cars. Not so sure how well our MS3's take a roll over but my guess is it woudlnt be as well as a car with a roll cage like an EVO.

Believe me when I tell you, there isn't ONE stretch of road you can do 150mph in d.c. without killing yourself...well, MAYBE 295...next door in md or va most def, but it's too many cops out here.

no car without a roll cage would do good in a roll over at 150...are u serious?

Yeah...I think that if you wreck in anything short of a professionally made race car harness with full gear on, you are dead meat at 150. Either that, or damn lucky. There isn't a stock car I can think of that you have a good chance in at that speed.
And there are NO good places in DC at all to get up to a decent speed. You can head out in parts of MD / VA for good stretches depending on the time of day. That was exactly the case here. It was about 8 pm, so it was still light out, and the traffic was almost zero.

yeah ive driven through DC enough times to know that its pretty much impossible to get up to those speeds without killing yourself or someone else. I hit 100+ on the beltway once or twice, but that was at like 3am

Especially the way people drive in this area! They suck so bad. They are bad drivers to start with (present party excluded of course) and they enjoy cutting you off, even at the risk of causing an accident. I have never seen more malicious (but I have seen worse drivers in Hawaii) than here. Hawaii drivers are the worse I have ever seen but at least they are nice.

my friend is a trooper and he has a 500 ponied 05 STi. He says he got tired ot racing cars, he now deals with bikes hehe. I think its more than obvious to mention that he has topped it. He drives like a lunatic too...everytime we put something on his car his takes it for a rough ride...50mph illegal U-turns? doable...on his STi.
Next time you do it, make sure you hit a brick wall, so you decrease the chance of killing an innocent mother and her children. Grow the fuck up.

Anyone who seems to think that doing 150mph on public roads is a good idea. Think about what you did. Go to your room.

Fear is an apt name for you. In any event, let me clarify a few things....
1) He was a professional driver who attended multiple driving schools. (Not just your basic race schools.) These are the best the cops had to offer and he has passed them all (3 total) with flying colors.
2) As I said...the road was virtually empty, straight, and it was daylight out. We could see the entire stretch we were running.
3) I never said it was a completely risk free act, however, we thought about the conditions prior and felt it was reasonably safe. There were certainly no drugs or alcohol involved. We were also on a freeway with a barrier between us and opposing traffic. If anything failed on the car, it would be more likely we would be injured than anyone else.
So the next time you feel like admonishing someone without all the facts, feel free to go fuck yourself. How is that for mature? Yes. That was a retorical question, but I sure do feel better.

yes, its dangerous, you never know when a mom thats talking on the phone paying no fckin attention to the road what so ever might switch lanes without signaling and just barely glancing subconciously (too into the phone conversation) at the rear view mirror causing you to quickly swerve and crash. Did I mention that happened to friend? he was doing 75mph...
Some people on this site need some chill pills. Fear is that you on your sig?

Great! He learned how to drive a car on a track, most likely better prepared than your MS3. What happens when Mr. Animal struts out onto the road at 150mph? Goodbye brakes, goodbye you.

I don't see what that has to do with it. It is a public road. Speed limit is not 150mph.

A reasonable response, although you may refer to my above comment. The risk is quite high no matter what car you're in, especially on public roads. Barrier or not.

Hey, I hope you learn from your actions. Don't do it again, that's all.

No, some ridiculous guy on talkbass.com made that sig of himself, I just added the "AMIRITE?" for funnys.

I have to say with seeing the latest news around here in California there are multiple car racer incidents that resulted in deaths. The problem is that innocent people were killed and I have to say that there is a level of responsibility that may be lacking in people who do this or even try to justify it.
I have stepped on mine a few times on the freeway but nothing crazy and that is good enough for me but as I said you hit a point in your life at which you realize how stupid it is to take risks like these.
Maybe your car got stollen as divine intervention so you wouldnt street race that night at 150 mph and kill someone. I wouldnt try it again in your new replacement, lol.

I look at it like this, everyone on this site (or most) that have purchased a car that can do around 150 has AT LEAST ONCE pushed it to 100mph or better and someone COULD have been killed. A buddy of mine smashed into a deer doing 140 before and luckily didn't kill himself, but it damn sure was a wake-up call. So give the man a break...i've seen people get killed in accidents doing less than 60 so it can happen to anybody.
