You know, the day after I got my MS3 I heard a similar noise under similar circumstances. At about 1200 rpm and while turning sharply into a parking spot or making a u-turn theres a low pitch hum. I took it in, but of course it didn't make the noise with the service tech.

Let me/us know what happens.

i hear the same thing. don't know exacty when i hear it but i've heard it about 5 times. it kind of sounds like a humming noise. maybe like a blue whale or something. it's definitely a noticable noise.

Not me, I actually feel a slight vibration under my clutch pedal.

Both my friend and I hear the same thing on our MS3's when they were new and the brakes werent broken in yet. Its the pads hitting the rotors when you turn sharp but as soon as they thin out a hair it will stop.

Yeah ours was the brakes. It sounded like when you run your finger around the rim of a wine glass but its gone now.

Now we just have that stupid low speed squeek in the brakes from time to time.

Good luck

I neglected to add that mine does it in stop-n-go traffic sometimes too. Again at around 1200-2000 rpm start/stops.

I am sorry to hear you are still having issues. When in doubt go back to the dealer. Keep everything documented. I promise it comes in handy. Even if you go and they document nothing wrong at this time....still is a good thing to do so.

I have had ours for over a month now and ours still makes this noise. And it is frustrating me. Almost like a high pitch rubbing noise when I am taking off slowly at a light.

My dealer and my sales guy told me, "keep track of it, notice the patterns and if it gets worse bring it in and we'll take care of you."

I took my sales guy, the service tech manager and a service mechanic all for a ride that day and as always, no noise. It has gone away somewhat significantly and I may have to agree with the person above stating it is the new brakes.

Yup agreed. My dealer did that too. But you "can" get a repair order in writing stating what you came in for and what they found or did not find.

I had the same problem you all are having. It was very low volume, whine type sound, only when I turned very sharply. The car had less than 300 miles on it, so I kinda blew it off, as too new to be broke. Which I probably should not have done.

I have more than 3000 miles on it now, I'll go see if it does it today.

i have just over 3k now and its gone but as I said now the pads squeek every now and then at very low speeds in parking lots.

I had the same problem right at first with my MS3 but after about 1200 miles it doesn't do it anymore. It had me concerned at first so I let the service dept look at it while I was at work (perks of being a Mazda sales person, haha) and they said it was just the brakes rubbing being so new.

I hate that "answer". I truly find that hard to believe. I mean I have owned about 10 NEW cars and NEVER had that happened before. Mine still do it and I am at 1500 miles

whitey4311

It is the brakes.

When the pads are thick and new they are very close to the rotors and as you turn sharp it very slightly moves the rotor closer to the pad and you get a slight amount of drag and that noise that goes with it.

When they wear a bit it goes away.

You mean my "answer" or the service dept? My "answer" is nothing but the truth. This is my first "new" car but it isn't making the noise anymore. I don't know exactly what it was but honestly after the brakes wore down some it's not existent. It's possible that I have done some harder braking than you too. Not everyone drives the same so that's something that needs to be kept in mind. I believe mine was the brakes. Some of you might be experiencing something different but in my case that was my problem.

Sorry I mean that the service departments tend to say "nothing is wrong". You know? I am glad things seem to be ok for you. Mine still makes the noise. But never when we are turning. Only when starting from a light or a stop.

i have never heard anything but the little strain i get when turing the wheel all the way to the right. I get a little something like the power steering is straining of some kind. It happens sometimes only. But nothing negative towards performance.

My ms3 does it too. It sounds like something rubbing through the breaks. It is a sort of wah wah wah sound. Still doing it after 4500 miles :(

It always happens in a slow roll forward and reverse if I have the clutch engaged or not and if I have it in gear or neutral.

So, how did they figure this out? Did they inspect it after you describing the noise, I ask because mine is making the same noise remember? I may want to just take it in and tell them to look at that. What part are they ordering?

Is a dry trans axle a serious thing? Could it wait another couple thousand miles to ask about it at my next scheduled maintenance or should I take it in right away?

With the way some dealers are, I would think sooner the better. Just for the car and your sake.

yea sooner the better cuz if it gets worse it jsut takes longer and more money to fix for them....i tell them everything i hear...just so they write it up and have it on record that i addressed the problem to mazda
