I want my MSP to be quicker and more powerful just like everyone else on here but I dont wanna build the bottom end or put any more stress on the stock rods. I'm at 9 psi w/ Greddy Profec II, GHL TB, PG intake mani, AEM Cai, hiboost fmic, greddy bov, DSM AFC. What else can I do besides getting the AFC tuned and raising the boost to 10 psi? Is that it for what I have installed? I just saw some MS3 dyno numbers and they make me depressed about my car so thats why I'm even asking these dumb questions anyways. I wish there were some crazy secrets out there that would double my HP but not blow me up. Sorry for being wierd but I'm at the tail end of a 14 hour shift at work right now and feeling out of it.

Raise the boost to 10-12 psi and get it tuned good. I believe sandspeed is at 11 psi with the stock block.

well you could start ripping all the excess weight off of your car...take out floor mats, door panels, all seats except the drivers, take you a/c out of the car, get cf or light fiberglass hood and trunk, dump the spare tire etc..etc...etc...
You could get a lightweight flywheel for a little more power, do all the light weight and underdrive type pulleys.
Other than that I dunno...put on the tightest suspension ever to make sure all the power makes it to the ground...i dunno any other idears?

water/methonal injection kit, spacers (or anything else that will give you cooler engine temps)

Its my daily driver which is dumb I know but I live very close to work. I would like to keep it somewhat comfy to drive for me and passengers.

I should talk to sandspeed about his set up. I'm just concerned about upping the boost since my favorite gas BP/Amoco 92 lowered the octane to 91 and I dont dare buy any other gas. Maybe its just a MN thing but Shell V Power also lowered from 93 to 91. Its very frustrating since gas prices are the same. Lower octane isnt equaling lower prices.

custom (or fs-ze) cams, valve job, new/PnP'd exhaust manifold, new valve springs & retainers, PnP/Extrude Hone the engine head, lighter flywheel, new clutch, 440cc injectors, upgraded ignition (I don't have much (read: any) knowledge about ignition upgrades, but it might be worth looking into), grounding kit...

Well I'm sacrificing some reliability for performance and I mainly just drive to work and back. But I belive that cars are meant to be driven and driven hard year round. Thats why I dont have a winter beater.

J&S Safeguard and I am at 12psi on my IHI VF22 which is probable close to 15psi on a stock turbo.

IMO it's like a ticking bomb with stock internals.
So far, eventually they have all failed. Everyone that has stock internals less a very select few have run over 7Psi and survived.
Matter Of Time and you will be there too..

I hear ya, Im in the same boat, otherwise id gut the interior completely. Honestly at the point you are at you are going to have to spend some serious loot for a head upgrade, flywheel, clutch, etc...i dont think the power gain will be worth the money (well except in the case of a flywheel, pulleys, and maybe the 1hp you can gain from a $40 grounding kit)

shit, and im scared of running 8 psi ..
but like brian said, over 7 psi youre on borrowed time and you will be owed

I'm spiking 11 holding up to 8...
I have basically the same mods, and I'm scared.(boom06)
I watch my AFs though and it's still dumping rich all the way to 10 so it's getting plenty of fuel.
Can't wait to get this J&S installed. My mechanic said it's a pain to get to the knock sensor though, so I have to wait for the intake mani so we can kill two birds with one stone.
Also think I'm gonna go with a stage colder plugs.

yeah these bottom ends are dangerous as you all know...i was spiking to 12 with my MBC and i got to the point where i just took the thing off...now because of my upgrades it naturally runs at 8-9 psi.
which is where i wanted it anyways so now im where i want to be minus the dangerous spike

I'm gonna do that tomorrow, my mods give me the same boost.
It isn't worth being able to control it. I'd rather be safe.
so anyone want to buy a brand new TurboSmart DSMBC????(ughdance)

well, as of right now I am running 11.5psi on my stock block with a ghl downpipe, begi fmic, injen intake, afc. My only recommendation would be to invest in a methanol kit. Methanol would be very benificial because you wouldn't have to turn the boost up for more hp. Install it on your car and then get it dyno tuned and you should see some great numbers on the dyno. Its really to bad that they lowered the octane though...wtf.

Intake mani, injectors, and methanol and I am done!
No I swear, really, I'm done. No, really.
Okay, okay, maybe a few more things.

This pretty much goes against what I was posting about earlier but I'm removing my EBC and selling it if I can the right price. I turned it off tonight and the car still feels very solid. My car is so goofy. On a good day with the EBC on it wont spike more than 10.5 psi and hold 9 to 9.5 psi in 2nd thru 4 gear but this was very rare. Usually it spikes around 11 and I would see 9 psi in 4th gear only. I've also noticed the slower my boost response the lower the spike but the boost will hold higher to redline. And when the boost is very quick and the spike is higher the car will boost lower to redline. The car acts the same way without the ebc hooked up too. So on average without the ebc hooked up I'm seeing around 1 up to 2 psi lower in every gear. So why should I keep risking it spiking to 11 psi having the ebc hooked for maybe another 20 HP? Screw it IMO. I went ripping tonight and the boost never spiked above 8.9 psi. Still scary that it still spikes to almost 9 at stock boost pressure. Keep in mind that I do have the ATP 6 PSI WGA. Thanks to everyone for the advice. Brian, that pic of the blown motor was kind of a wake up call. I owe way too much on the car to deal with that BS. Sandspeed, I hope your car stays together. The car must feel awesome and the car looks nice BTW.

glad your keeping the msp man, a 14 hour shift sucks... I would try out the methanol, I think you would be surprised.
I've actually had a built motor sitting in a performance shop for a while now and by the end of this month should be in the car. Got big plans for the car and want to represent the protege community:)

There is no way I would sell this car. Cant wait to see what your car will put down with the built motor. I've seen BoomerGT tune twice and rode in his MSP. He has 301whp at 17 psi with a GT28rs and a built motor. Feels fricking crazy. Best of luck with the build. If I had the cash or parts laying around for a built motor I would push the block more but I will stop for now being its my daily driver. I dont wanna blow up on the way to work then have to explain to my boss I wont be there because I shot a rod thru my block. Yeah these 14 hour days once a week are pain in the arse and I'm salary so that sucks even more. A good friend and I are starting a business soon so hopefully that will work out for us and the 14 hour days can be a thing of the past.

As good as it sounds to be your own boss and control your own schedule, having your own business doesn't mean less time working. It's usually the opposite, believe me I have been trying to do it now for two yrs and the lack of sleep and free time sucks most of the time.

I enjoy working way too many hours for the most part. Its a satisfying feeling and if there is a potential for me to make a lot of money then its worth it for me. Doing it for my current job with no promise of advancement or pay increase gets old quick.
