ok mazda said that they would not cover my car under the warranty for the control arm bolt the one that goes straight through the control arm and into that nut welded to the sub frame. it was cross threaded for a while and now it stripped and has fallen out and they tell me they want to put a new subframe in at the cost of $1100 i think its bogus is there a way to fix that stripped nut?

You could try rettaping the thread but it's not as safe as having a new part. That's the reason they are recommending you replace the entire subframe, once they've told you and you decide not to have it repaired they are not responsible for the car anymore. You could also try to have it welded but I really don't know how damaged it is or where.

i took this problem over a year ago right after i bought the car and they fixed the wrong thing 3 different times and now theyre telling me that this problem isnt covered under warranty i even bought an extended warranty and for what? this is rediculous.

i think i may only need the crossmember and theyre trying to tell me i need a whole subframe. all i need is the piece that holds the control arms in place. er... the 12mm bolt that goes thru the control arm, the nut that that bolt goes into is stripped but the nut is welded.

The part the LCA bolts into is the entire subframe. You should be able to grind the stripped nut off the subframe and have a new one welded in. Just get a new bolt from Mazda and find a nut that fits it. Take all to a good mechanic/welder and get it fixed.

im down to my last options and i think im just gonna get a enw subframe and take a loan out. itll gimmie a reason to take out extra and buy some go fast goodies for the car. anyone know where i can get a new mazdaspeed protege subframe assembly the least expensive? Maz-Max in houston quotes me $922 and the dealer here quoted me $1117 and some change. any others that may be cheaper?

i dont know if theyre the same but the guy at maz-max told me the MP3 and MSP are different from all the other proteges i dont know if he was jsut trying to say the part numbers are different or if the actual parts are different. if the parts are all the same then i can get one from a junked (back end) protege or p5 or something. if not then i guess ill have to pay up.

They should all be the same. I can't think of anything on the MSP/MP3 that would be different.
