View Full Version : I need help on choosing a SMIC

So im going to buy an upgarded SMIC, but i dont really know what site to buy it from. Im contemplating street unit or protge garage, their the same price but im not sure if their the same size and what not. Do any of you guys know if there is any difference between them, or are they the same exact thing? Your input is greatly appreciated.

Theres a sticky if u do a search that gives different info on the SMICs and FMICs...If you are going SMIC get turbohoses...they are dyno proven and I love mine. But dont cheap out and not buy hardpipes. With the hardpipes the turbohoses unit gained 16whp on stock boost levels i think. Check out their website.

The 'CustomMSP Side Mount Intercooler Upgrade' from ProtegeGarage and the one from Street Unit are the same product.

Be advised that Street Unit has had their Authorized Vendor status here on the forums revoked.

what do u think the power gains from a smic and fmic are. Small Difference, Medium diff, or big diff? i am debating on which one i want to get

My friend, you have poked open a can of worms that has been the subject of quite some debate here on the forums. I invite you (with no rudeness or snobby-ness intended) to use the search function to locate threads that contain the bajillions of debates that have taken place on this very topic already.

my experience tells me that for those looking to stay around 10psi or less that the gains and throttle response are best with the SMIC. those looking to go bigger boost may be happier with the FMIC.
