Okay, so I just purchased my car and when driving the car it seems to be having its hesitations. The car, from what I know, only has a CAI. Under the hood there is a label that states "Mazda Authorized Modification" with the value "3ALU-12A650-MC" and "P/N 9999-95-AMDC-97" as stated in the thread about the flash update.

If I floor the car from a stand still it seems fine, but when driving normal, then trying to WOT that is when it hesitates. Doesn't happen all of the time, but probably most of the time. Usually around 2500 to 5000 RPM or so. Not exactly sure.

So....., it seems this car must have been flashed already but I am still seeing hesitation problems. Any ideas on what I can check to fix this? Does the flash fix everyone's hesitation issues or only some of you?

I think the intake filter is quite dirty, so I was thinking about either cleaning it out or getting a new filter to see if that helps.

Any ideas?

How many miles on the car? Won't be a waste of money to throw in 4 new plugs and pcv also. Make sure all of the clamps are tight on the intercooler end tanks, throttle body, and turbo. Run some Seafoam through the pcv and add some to your gas tank also.

Short of getting an EMS, better IC and a tune, you'll never completely get rid of hesitation. The flash while better than when it came from the factory IMO, is not perfect.

The car has around 52k on it. All of the hoses and pipes seems to be okay. Car drives fine other than the hesitation at times.

I'm thinking of replacing the plugs and the intake filter to see if that helps.

Okay, I have a new Injen filter on order for my CAI. I'll see how that works.

Since my hesitation has been bothering me, on Friday I disconnected my battery and reconnected it. It seems this might have solved my hesitation problems. Usually when the car is hesitating my Air/Fuel ratio gauge will show rich then drops to lean, rich then drops to lean, and it'll keep doing that until the hesitation goes away. Since disconnecting my battery and reconnecting it, it doesn't seem to do it anymore. There are still sometimes when I feel a little bit of hesitation, but the car seems to catch itself better and not have as much hesitation/lag time. I'm still going to need to drive the car more to see if that really did resolve the issue.

I fixed my plugs and used seafoam and it worked wonders. My car drives like it never has. Give it a shot... total cost would only be around $20 so shouldnt empty your pockets
