Hey y'all.
I've searched around, but haven't found the answer I was looking for.
What kind of benefits would one have by replacing the OEM wastegate? Provided I'm not having any issues with the stock piece, would replacing it provide a couple pounds of boost? Maybe more steady boost overall?
It doesn't seem to be too expensive of a part to replace (thinking about the WGA from ATP .. http://www.atpturbo.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=ATP-WGT-011B&Category_Code=WGT ), so I'm rather interested in it.
Thanks, and sorry if the question has already been answered.

Bad WGA = ZoomZoomBoom!
With the bad WGA you'll boost far beyond what the stock rods will handle.

Yup, I had this happened. Fuel cut and 10.5 psi ain't that great knowing you'll blow the motor. Replaced mine with the ATP WGA and feels like new. And you get about 1 psi for free.

So, I'm currently running stock boost, and the car is performing alright.
I ordered the Unichip, so I'll throw it in when it arrives. I probably won't install the boost controller that comes with it due to it's 'shittiness' (for spiking and whatnot).
Knowing I'll be in a situation with the boost being 'left alone' for the most part, would I see much of a benefit? Or is it more of an assurance thing ... "I know the boost is steady and won't spike, and the rods are safe" .. ?

Was the ATP a direct replacement?
I know it's slightly different from the stocker.

Yes, the ATP WGA is direct replacement. If you're going to install it, check this out....

You can start at post #2. Taking off the exhaust manifold isn't required.

ive heard it's just more steady, reliable, won't break, and you will get an extra pound of boost. not a bad idea...
