ok, so ive been experiencing an exhaust leak right where the turbo mates to the exhaust manifold.
today was change-oil day, so i might as well fix the leak too.
my thoughts were that the exhaust manyfold had finally cracked due to not having a flex pipe on my 3" exhaust....i have front and rear AWR motor mounts and transmissio side inserts...i was hoping they would keep the engine from mving so much as to not let the exhaust be cracked...
so, i take everyhting off....off comes the turbo...fingers crossed....
thank god it wasn't a crack on the manifold but a few lose bolts.
i seem to remember from when we changed the manifold about a year ago that one of the nuts had broken so the turbo was held only by three...not today, it was being held by only ONE!!! WTF?
anyways, i take the turbo out, to my surprise not too much shaft play...dirty as fuck tho, so i spray it with PB BLaster and remved all the oil gunk inside.
put the turbo back in the engine, torqued down all bolts nicely....everything was going smoothly....
i was so happy to see that it wasn't a cracked mani...
i start the car
then a strong smell of GAS....
hmm...
running too rich?
take a look at the engine bay and what do i see?? a fuckin g fuel LEAK!!
shut the engine off as soon as i could...
damn...
thank god i decided to change the oil today, otherwise it would've been POLLO ALA BBQ!
