I was looking at the profile of my wifes CX-9 and imagined aluminum roof rails instead of the black and think it would look great. Imagine the rails matching the rims and door handles (I know these are chrome, but it would tie together nicely). I hope they come out with that as an option.

I agree. That would look rich!

Like the Enclave - the roof rails nicely match the wheel sheen.
I agree, that would be a great look for the CX-9

I 100% agree that aluminum (or better yet, Chrome) will definitely add to CX-9's "bling" factor, however, the car does have decent amount of chrome as it is. Besides, the CX-9 is more about the "Zoom" factor and less about the bling. :)
Atleast we can go with aluminum/chrome cross bars...

On the Grand Touring that would be too much.
There is alot of chrome as it is.
I guess I'm biased because my CX-9 is black!

Well I was also convinced alu-look would look better and voila...

I think it looks good! (2thumbs). I chose the more satin-coated brushed alu-look of the rims to go on the roof instead of the shiny chrome. That would maybe have been too much...

I went to a car-painter/bodyshop, picked the right color with the rims and had them painted in satin-finish. It's metallic carpaint

Wouldn't be hard to paint them yourself. Get a can of automotive spray paint, primer and plastic bonder or primer, and there you go. You can even paint them to match the car body.
