The news desk at AutoTelegraaf in The Netherlands picked up an interesting bit of news about the possibility of a Toyota Auris V6 with 4WD. Toyota technician Soichiro Okudaira claims that the Auris (Blade in Japan and soon the Corolla in the USA) has an engine bay which can fit engines ranging from 1.4- to 3.5-liters (four and six-cylinder), and that the rear-wheel suspension is capable of 4WD.
The Japanese Blade already comes with 4WD and Toyota is considering equipping the soon-to-be-launched US Corolla with a V6. Regretfully, there will be no Auris V6 in Europe just yet.

Would be cool, I'd trade in the mazda in a heartbeat. But more than likely we will just some plain jane vanilla Corolla. Plus why would they put a V6 in a corolla? Gas prices are nearing $4

They seem to be moving into the place GM was 50 years ago, and even more so, because they think *all* Americans want everything BIG.
Honestly, they'd be better off adding the 'spice' and 'excitement' from the older GTS' and AE86's back into their bread and butter entry level sedan. It seems to be working for the Mazda 3, 2008 Lancer, and FG Civic.

^^ So far its working for Toyota. They recently passed GM for the #1 auto seller in the world and now the world's largest automaker. Whatever they are doing, its working very well for them.

You're right.
However they have said in many interviews that they wish to avoid being the company in 1st place, as that was the biggest reason for GM's current situation.
Honestly I'm looking at the car from an enthusiast point of view. When I see this corolla, i see another boring, sedate product from Toyota corporation. A washing machine or toaster.

I agree, they used to be awsome, MR2's, celicas, and supras. Now they frankly suck. Being a car guy I say... Honda>>>Toyota; Mazda>>>>>>>>>>Toyota, Hell...Hyundai>>Toyota (atleast their cars look good, have a nice warenty, and they have a sporty coupe! The tiburon). Not mention that hyundai has two RWD V8's coming soon.(glare)

I do agree that Toyota is boring, without a doubt. I do miss the Supra, MR2, Celica days. :(
