That's right. The same company that makes mediocre audio systems in cars has now built a car suspension system that they hope will change the industry. It uses electromagnetic motors instead of shock absorbers.

Love the testing videos and pics. I wonder how old that Lexus's suspension is?

I was talking about this with my friend who sent me the info. He said they want to get this system on a production vehicle by 2009...most likely a high-end luxury vehicle such as the Lexus used in the tests. It sucks up less than 1/3 the power a normal A/C compressor does.
I think it would be cool to be able to computer program your suspension don't you? Soft ride for the winter or bad roads and with the push of a button, hunker down and tackle some twisties. I know Audi and other companies have ride height adjustments...but they won't perform the way this does.
If this flies, I wonder if they'll make retro-fit kits.

I wonder how the "all highs no lows gotta be bose" theory will apply to this one. I suppose they'll get into lift kits? :D

...hmm, wonder if those electromagnetic motors can replace hydrolics...

i remember seeing that a long time ago. volvo also had an active suspension. it was weird watching a car go through a slalom and dive into the turns like a jet would.

A GT i saw this concept tested on a R/C car which won every race i took place in. But ya the idea is a great idea.

Lincoln and Cadillac I believe used an electronically controlled air ride system. Aka air bags.

yes lincoln and caddy use air ride.
there are some shocks out there that can change the viscosity of the liquid in the cylinder to create a faster or slower response to bumps and those were magnetically controlled too.

That's pretty awesome. I'm skeptical, but only because it's made by bose.
