hey guys...(and gals)

Just thought I'd ask a question here. I am getting a lot of transmission work done to my P5 (still under the powertrain!!!(alright) )

My question is while it is in, should I get them to look at either my motor mounts or transmission mounts. There is a LOT of movement in my gear shift if I am not holding onto it and I give it gas (kind of bucks forward and backward depending on when I give it gas). Is that normal? When I had my Mazda 3, that didn;t happen. Driving my buddiy's civic, that didn;t happen. Is it a sign that the mounts are shot? If so, they are covered under powertrain right? Any idea if it would be engine or transmission mounts? I was told it could be both, but people on this site know frigging everything (very impressed) so I am asking you all:P

I only have one month left of my powertrain on my 2002 P5, so I need to get the stuff done to it ASAP!

Thanks all!

Most likely its your front and rear motor mount. My car had them go out and my shifter moved like crazy too. I could place my hand an inch behind the shifter and give it gas and have the shifter move to my hand. I replaced the mounts and everything is all good. Usually the side mounts have less stress on them so they should be good.

its actually normal, but engine mounts (front and rear) will help tone it down. with the tranny out, its the perfect time to do the rear one.
