hey, i am getting a thud/knocking sound when i start my car...it sounds like it's coming from the exhaust but not positive. Has anyone else gotten this or does anyone have an idea of what it may be? It only seems to happen after I have driven a while and the car is hot. It's an 03 P5 if that helps any.

well i think it's the muffler hitting the rear bumper...it does it when i hit bumps and when i shift w/ the rpms high too. i think it's because of the motor mounts being torn. hopefully gettin new ones soon. guess i'll have to drive her lightly right now

Yeah, I have noticed that as of late. When I start my Protege, I get a "knock" sound as well, but only when she is cold (first start of the day, or sitting for long time without being driven). And, it only lasts for a second or 2 and then the engine continues to warm up as per normal. What could cause this knock?

Motor mounts? Would they be the cause with only 84, 000 kms?
What does your exhaust system consist of again?
