Hi
Have an annoying rattle-vibration when driving the M5 over bumps-breaks in
the road and have searched around inside and can't find a culprit. I have had
the bushings replaced and the crunching sound over bumps has gone but the
vibration is still there.
Inside have checked the rear wheel area and storage bins (emptied all of
them out) and its not that. Spare's tight and nothing loose. Emptied the
seat storage areas and took out the baby seat...not that. Folded down the
seats and its not that.........
Wondering it anyone else hears this? as it absolutely drives me nuts, and am
wondered if its a loose heat shield?
Any help appreciated before I have to head off to the dealer

i usually get a vibration noise from my shitty dash kit that came with the car and the normally full ashtray filled with change for tolls. and i think my rear deck is vibrating slightly over bumps and whatnot. i would check the rear deck and if there is some movement in it, put some foam weather stripping underneath it to fill in the gap. should do the trick.

I had a Saab 9-5 with an auto-dimming mirror that rattled. Something inside had come loose. It was hard to pinpoint as the sound deflected off of the winshield. Grab the mirror next time you think you may here the rattle. At least you can eliminate it as a possible culprit. (hump)

You probably already checked this, but are your rear/middle seat belt tongues secured in their little clips? Those can certainly make a racket. Good luck finding it, whatever it is.

Thanks for the ideas but no answers. Will have to drop it off to the dealer
to see if they can hunt it down....will let you know what happens

Check the slider door panels...mine was all loose at the bottom. It happened after they replaced my door latches for some recall or something. I'm taking it back in next week to have them fix whatever they jacked up fixing the latches.

I have 31,500 miles on my 2006. My first set of tires (Toyo) where well worn at 9k miles. I then switched to 16" wheels and B.F. Goodrich Traction T/A's. Now these are wearing unevenly on the inside edges with about 15k on them.
I have a constant vibration that Mazda has blamed on the tires after they replaced the sway bar links and it did not improve. There is also a clunking sound over even the smallest bumps, they cannot solve this either. My former Volvo with 170k miles ran quiter and smoother than this Mazda. I love the brand but I am very discouraged at this point.
