hey guys, i recently purchased a 99 protege lx w/ about 97k on it for my girl. not a bad ride..its red but automatic. well we've had it for about a month now and we have a problem. when the car runs hot it seems to jump into high gears and it rev's really high almost feels as if someone has taken control of the car.
i automatically assumed it was the tranny, however when i took it to the shop my mechanic said the tranny is alright. so i decide to have the fluid flushed and changed. everything was alright until boom it happened again. any ideas what can be causing this problem??

i have had the car serviced and chk. everything seems to be ok.
as to why its really hot...well the temp gauge seems to move up slighty inching towards the H. someone told me that was normal..but i've never seen that on my previous cars.
some one else told me that it's possible that the tp sensor is malfunctioning
i've learned one thing about the mazda tranny this weekend. (pissed)

your low speed fan relay could be bad. My MP3 never went a MM over dead center on the temp gauge.

Well at this point it the problem occurs less when the car is not in overdrive.
I guess I'll have to take it to the dealer and see what they say.
Thanks

looks like its switch gears around 4 to 5 ...
but i took it to a transmission specialist...he said the tranny is fine.
he said i would need to change to tps. so i called one of my boys who got connects w/ mazda and he's getting me the tps for 168. so we gonna change it and see what happens. i really hopes this is the answer to the problem.
thanks for the info my people...i'll be sure to let you know the out come.
